Last Film You Watched

Tried watching 1917. Was just okay and then the stupidest scene ever took me out of it and I switched it off
It’s so bad. Like a school project. I do love the cameos from various actors and it’s like ‘wait wait wait.. I recognise this voice omg is Benedict cumberbatch/ Mark strong etc’
I like a lot of World War One film and literature but this was utter garbage.

Went back and watched The Wailing again - South Korean horror film. I really want to like it but the character acting is really throwing me off. I don't know if it's a Korean thing, but why is the leading male character always a bit of a dope? Maybe a generalisation based off the small sample size i've watched.

Will no doubt have to revisit this one again when the time is right to give it a proper review.

Whats some more good WW1 ? All Quiet On The Western Front obviously, got any more good ones?

Samurai Cop (1991)

I keep getting this in my you-tube feed so I finally put myself through it....

It's actually pretty hilarious... skunk and alcohol and junk food is required like.

Oh and the poundland Eddie Murphy cop-buddy is just boss. His facial expressions are just gold

Way better than any Jason Statham picture.

Bit of a strange one this, as it’s pretty boring for the first hour and then becomes a very good horror for the last 30 mins.

No One Gets Out Alive. ( Netflix )

An young illegal immigrant, takes a room in a rundown, seedy boarding house in somewhere in Texas, run by two shady brothers. One by one the other lodgers start to disappear.

Wanders all over the place to start with, but really kicks in the last half an hour.

Cristina Rodolo is very good in the lead too.

Engines of Creation is K. Eric Drexler's masterpiece on the potential of nanotechnology. It was published in the 80s and spawned fears (as all new technologies do) that terrorists would develop bots to go inside people and kill us. Obviously that hasn't happened in the 30 odd years since its been published (and nanotech generally hasn't achieved the heights predicted in the book) so it was funny seeing it as the central plotline, devised by a corrupt Russian scientist straight from central casting. We're going to see The Valkyries at the ENO.

Not sure what the ENO is but think I know what The Valkyries means (Wagner?).
