Last Film You Watched

Dallas Buyers Club.

Quite heavy in parts, but brilliantly acted. Matthew Mcconaughey definitely worth a shout for the best actor oscar.

8/10

Wonder if you were at the preview screening on Edge Lane...or did you find other, ahem, means of viewing?

Anyway, hotting up to be an interesting Oscars year. American Hustle was really enjoyable but then Wolf of Wall Street just blew it out the water and I've been pretty much in love with that film until I saw Dallas Buyer's Club tonight. In fact, it may very well be the antithesis to Wolf of Wall Street and it shows in that they couldn't be further in tone, style, approach.

The trailer makes the film out to be a sort of uplifting moral victory for 'reformed bigot' and his newfound kindred spirits in the previously detested 'LGBT' community. The film is anything but (although there is something of an integration into their world and a rallying cry against big pharma) and has such a gritty, distasteful but compelling feel to it. The sex scenes border on the repulsive, makes no bones about what is responsible for their predicament. The opening scene was just jarring, threw you right into its chaotic, grimy mix.

So no Hollywood transformations/endings and all the better for it. Thoroughly enjoyed.

Lone Survivor - 7.5/10

Was wincing the whole time those lads fell down those hills. If you've seen this movie you'll know what i mean.
It was a bit over the top, certainly most wouldn't be getting up to fight after. It was a brilliant movie though otherwise. Can't imagine the guts needed to keep on fighting if I was in that situation...

Just watched Tintin - The Secret Of The Unicorn

Had been meaning to see it since it came out in 2011.

It's a brilliant brilliant action adventure movie and I loved the animation. Never seen anything quite like it.

Loved it.

And Jock played Captain Haddock.

4 Championship belts out of 5.
