It's good not amazing but it's good.

I thought that it was a good play on how messed up the world is. Nods to the corruption of politics (Trump, Boris et al); the impending disaster and the handling of it seemed to draw parallels to the pandemic and the general race to the bottom that is driven by social media had a distinct whiff of the antivax Qanon lunatics.

Rock solid, very focused WWI drama about British civilian miners recruited to dig under the German lines and do some serious dynamiting. This is a first time director on a budget of less than 500k. With a strong cast, tight script, excellent period and trench settings and a nice anti-toff attitude this is actually very impressive and punches well above its weight.
Well recommended, Netflix.
Sounds a bit like Birdsong. That was a brilliant book that the film version sadly didn't live upto. Saw it advertised on Netflix the other night but wasn't sure whether it would be a touch claustrophobic for me at the moment, but I'll give it a go on your recommendation.View attachment 149856

Watched it Christmas night and I think it was decent. The good news is I was that pissed I could watch it again and won't remember most of it. So saving it for New Years eve.Really enjoyed the latest Bond movie just now.
Yeah, I'd go along with that assessment. The bit where he was in the Bahamas reminded me alot of the books, I really liked that.

Joe Pesci for me. Just loved his mad hairstyle lolThanks for the heads up on this, didn't know about it. I go back to Stone's JFK at least once a year.
Also a nod to Donald Sutherland, in a movie full of excellent performances, he stole the show for me.
The drawn on eyebrows for the win, my gran had a friend who had almost the exact same look as Pesci character in that movie.Joe Pesci for me. Just loved his mad hairstyle lol
Did they do a 3 part series of that or something? Surprised it hasn’t been tried again to be honest. The book is brutal.Sounds a bit like Birdsong.
