Last Film You Watched

If that’s true, what a legacy that is
There were a few others who were in the war :

The German commandant in the film (Hans Messemer) was a prisoner in a a Russian POW camp, he escaped and made it back to Germany.
The German prison guard (Til Kiwe) who was blackmailed into giving a camera for Donald Pleasance was also a POW, this time in Colorado in America. He also escaped and made it as far as St. Louis before being captured.
The Gestapo officer (Hans Reiser) was also a POW.
Richard Attenborough served in the RAF.

I watched the documentary The Writer With No Hands, which is about the strange case of Hollywood screenwriter Gary DeVore, who wrote Raw Deal among several others. A year after he suddenly vanished without trace, his car was retrieved from the water beneath an aqueduct, and the corpse's hands had been removed. The doc follows a British lecturer who has an obsession with the unsolved case, and he flies out to LA to try to get closer to the truth. It's an interesting story, although the voiceover (by the cameraman/editor) is poor. I think tomorrow might be its last day on STV player (where it's listed under Murdered by Hollywood), in case anyone wants to catch it on there.

Watched the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Utterly utterly horrendous. A terrible horror film.
Turned it off less than half way through. Didn't even last that long with Last Man Down, another low budget mess being shown on Netflix. Quite possibly in my worst 5 films ever. Give them both a miss is my advice.

Liquorice Pizza

Paul Thomas Anderson continues the uphill climb into his own bottom. The once important director has made another aimless first draft of a film (see Inherent Vice) which has the overall feeling of Dazed and Confused but with none of the laughs

Excellent performance from Alana Haim though

This is truly fantastic,

I Believe in Miracles.

The story of how Brian Clough and Peter Taylor took Forest out of the old Division One and turned them into League Champions and European Champions.

Some of the interviews with the ex players will have have you crying with laughter - Larry Lloyd and John Robertson in particular.

Compelling viewing.

Netflix.

Yeah read up on it now! Wonder what it was like on set, I remember my grand father saying when German prisoners left England and went back to rebuild their homeland a lot of friendships were made and lots even stayed and made lives here, where as my other grandfather couldn’t stand them..A weird time in history!
