Downfall is sensational

I watched this last night and if I'm honest nothing really surprised me regarding the duplicity of the Boeing company. It really served as a reminder that we all take flying in an aircraft too much for granted and forget about the intricacies of its construction.
As a footnote, as a kid just turned nine years of age, I was mad on all things to do with aeroplanes. I got one of those Par Avion light blue envelopes and hand wrote a request to Boeing asking for some photos and publicity literature. I addressed it Boeing, Seattle, USA.
A few weeks later the postman hauled his arse up the stairs to our flats with a box full of pics, tee shirts and something called a baseball cap.
Sad to see how the innocence died when money overruled safety.

Rumoured that it's Joker and judging by his facial makeup on Barry Keoghan who is a very good actor. A few good stories on Joker and Ridder teaming up against Batman so possible sequel coming

Oh, no I was saying "what?!" as in how didn't Zat know it was Joker in the cell. The face, the laugh, the reference in his speech to the clown etc. Couldn't have been more obvious.

Dragged across concrete.

Enjoyed this. Always like that directors work of kind of towing the line between B movie and genuine quality film making.

Really slow burner but there’s enough between Vaughan and Gibson to keep you going.
Sorry to quote an old post but just watched this film. Thought it was really good - if a bit slow to start with. Hints of Tarantino. Can't understand why it isn't rated higher. Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn are great and it's a well constructed and believable yarn. On Sky movies at present.

As per everybody else - went to see The Batman tonight

I guess i'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. People have talked about it being 'dark'. It is visually incredibly dark, to the point where you'll be craving a cutaway daytime scene of Bruce Wayne buying sandwiches. Tonally, it is nowhere near as dark as something like Joker.

It also felt incredibly bloodless to me. I understand that Batman is a character that doesn't 'kill' - but when you're marketing your film as being edgy you're probably going to need a bit more than it delivers. There was a scene where you as the viewer assumed that Batman had lost control and pummelled his foe into small pulpy pieces - only for him to just look a bit bruised and bemused.

I felt that Pattinson was a good fit as Batman - but there was zero chemistry between the major players in the story. Also didn't really feel that Catwoman added much to the story.

My final point is more about the modern way of producing films rather than a dig at The Batman specifically. I remember a time when, if your film exceeded 2 hours in length, it meant that it had a great deal to say and unpack. The rare films that pushed up towards the 3 hour mark were generally epic in scale, storytelling, character development and plot. To me, most modern films (and I would say that 'Superhero' films are the most guilty of this) take 3 hours to tell a story they could deliver more effectively in 100 minutes.

If a film as perfect as Blade Runner can package itself in 117 minutes - why would something like The Batman need 176 minutes to deliver less of a story?

New one on Netflix- Against The Ice.

Based on the true story, of two Danish Artic explorers, who became separated from the main body of their expedition and survived for nearly three years, holed up in a temporary shelter.

Well acted, beautifully filmed, but incredibly slow, due the nature of their survival.

Joe Cole of Peaky Blinders fame, is rapidly climbing the acting ladder.

Super hero films are a bigger racket than importing drugs. How many more Batman films can they possibly make ?

only full one I’ve watched is the latest joker but I wouldnt class that as a superhero film .

Put down your marvel comics and get high ffs
