Last Film You Watched

Watched The Graduate today, first time in about 40 years. Remember thinking back then why would you find Dustin Hofman attractive and now I could be Mrs Robinson still think the same. Imagine the film being made with a Mr Robinson seducing a young girl but we know that would never happen ?

Saw Top Gun: Maverick. Ridiculously entertaining, and a benchmark for how to properly do a modern blockbuster. I loved how it was so unapologetic in its approach - it didn't mind referencing the original, and never tried to be hip or clever. The most fun film in a long time.

Not seen it yet but seen a few reviews along the same lines of what you are saying, which makes me happy.

Proper guilty pleasure the original, must have watched it a million times as a kid, can't wait to see this now!

I really enjoyed this, as I love these type of bleak, backwoods, dark crime films :

The Silencing.

A reformed Hunter, who’s daughter has been missing for years, stumbles across a serial killer, who is kidnapping and then hunting young girls, in remote woodland, near to his cabin.

He teams up with the local sherif and chief of the local Native American police force , to hunt the serial killer.

The casting is excellent, particularly , the choice of Anabelle Wallis ( Peaky Blinders ) to play the sheriff.

Dark and brutal, with the use of the desolate landscape used to maximum effect.

Weirdly the critics panned it, but audiences have loved it.

It would make an excellent book too.

It’s on Netflix.

Finally got round to this, no idea why it was panned. Easy 7/10, possibly even an 8. Very good watch and had me thinking throughout. Thought the two leads were great, as was the lad who played Brooks.


Also watched a documentary the other night called Dear Zachary. If you’ve not seen it, don’t read up on it, go in blind. Powerful stuff.

To throw onto the Top Gun pile…….

Apart from a terribly cheesy opening (not the carrier ops montage)…….AWESOME!!!

Even the noises the F-14 ground power unit made when starting up was spot on!!!! Amazing flying sequences (even if a few of the were unrealistic), brilliant use of CGI when the real thing couldn’t be done. Just a brilliant, entertaining blockbuster, best enjoyed on the biggest screen with best sound system possible…….watch it in IMAX or equivalent if you can!!!!!

I was excited for this, but thought it was boring as heck……beautiful movie though….

It was decent. Saw it at the movies and there was a couple bursting out in laughter at every kill scene at the ending slaughter, not sure what to make of that.

Robert Eggers is a fantastic film maker. Such intensity, and incredible dialogue in his films.

Amazing, genre defining film. Liotta was superb. The "funny" scene with Joe Pesci is one of the all time greats. So awkward, so uncomfortable, so believable....The acting and directing was incredible.
