Saw Moonage Daydream today at the IMAX. Bowie was boss.
Re watched Event Horizon for the umpteenth time last night.
I still love it just as much, as the first time I saw it.
It’s a film thats crying out for a quality sequel, which would be very doable ( imo )

what did you make of the hell scenes and would you bother with the extended directors versions originally included?

A good and better for it simpler, modern horror type.
Really enjoyed that film. Can't believe it was made for only $3 mil. It certainly didn't feel like a low budget movie IMO.
It‘s one of my favourite all time films, so I’m massively biased.
The hell scenes gave me terrible nightmares the first time I saw it, as they‘re so quick, that they’re almost subliminal. You’re bombarded with them, almost like a strobe and that‘s what burnt them into my brain.
I‘ve never actually seen the directors cut !

The film and book are virtually word for word.
The casting of Tommy Lee Jones and Javier Bardem, is just magnificent.

I don't think there is one, the director was on board for a bit but got tied up by the studio again and left em to it.
I find it a bit camp tbh, the sets are nice & nods to quake and some other stuff, can also see clearly some of what it influenced. (I dont reckon it holds a candle to alien but little does and thats probably my bias)
We need more outer space horror though, and not schlock reheated and rinsed for its last dregs. (for instance I dont want to see a bladerunner prequel 'the tales of Roy Batty' for instance - film or series)
[indelible marks left by music/film/tv/theatre etc tends to be tied to the whens and hows of your consuming them so to speak, first gig, first album that sort of stuff]
