Last Film You Watched

Pearl

A generic snoozefest masquerading as an original horror movie - despite the fact that we've seen this story of parental persecution and revenge a dozen times before

Excellent central performance from Mia Goth though

Was just coming to post about this. I thought it was excellent!

A prequel to the movie X, which came out earlier this year (or maybe last). Interestingly, they pitched the idea for a prequel movie, while shooting X, and got the go ahead, so shot both movies almost back to back, using the existing sets etc.

But I really enjoyed it, probably in large part due to the great performance, as you mentioned.

Overlord.

Enjoyed it far more than I expected. The opening scene on the plane was 10/10, the rest of the film had its ups and downs but still, a generous 8/10 due to what it does well. Enjoyed Kurt Russell's son in it too.

I think I watched that at the cinema - remember being surprised by how much effort was put into the opening given the meat and bones of the film. Very generic but as you say it does what it does well enough.

The Good Nurse.

Much better than I thought it would be.

Tells the true story, of Nurse Charles Cullen, who is believed to have murdered up to 400 patients, in hospitals across the USA and the nurse, who helped two detectives, to keep digging, in the face of official stonewalling and brought him down.

Jessica Chastaine and Eddie Redmayne are very good in the leads.
Mrs CT was watching this the other day when I got back from work and I had half an eye on it during the police interrogation. Didn't clock that was Eddie Redmayne at all - credit to him.

*During the police interrogation scene - I'm not implying that MrsCT puts me through a police interrogation like questioning when I return home.

Have you seen the tv series, it gets aired every now and again on BBC 4 ?

Aaron Pederson is a fine actor.
What TV series? Animal Kingdom? No. Isn't it American or am I getting confused?

The film is brilliant as it's about a crime family but viewed from a different perspective. It's excellent
