Last Film You Watched

Dune 2

If part 3 is the same quality then id be hard pressed to think of a better trilogy.

Part 1 and 2 are masterpieces.

Amazing experience again in the cinema :o ;)

So far i feel ive really seen / am seeing something special.

Will watch both again in the next week and i never say that.

Dune part 2. Loved it. Quite a few more big stars (Walken, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux) to fit in this time around, but Villeneuve makes it all work brilliantly. Nice quiet screening, too - most notable thing was the guy a few rows in front of me came in carrying a tray with 3 footlong hotdogs on it, but didn't even finish the second one. Takes all sorts, I guess.

My favourite is, his last movie was called 'ambuLAnce'. Spelt exactly like that with an emphasis on the LA... Because the movie was based in LA.

Why? I can only assume that the average Michael Bay fan needs to be reminded which city the film is set in because of their short attention span.
If you’d ever been to LA you would know that this is how they write ambuLAnce on such vehicles.

Seen the first Dune twice and really didn’t think it was all that. Visually superb, though moved at a snails pace and by the end credits there was a thought of ‘is that it?’

Seeing the new one this weekend, seems to have gotten better reviews.

Paths of Glory

One of the most effectivr anti-war films i've seen (along with come and see)

I think it works better than most, as it doesn't just go down the "war is hell" route

It also shows "the army is hell" , with pompous, corrupt and feckless higher up sending men to die and even drawing lots as to decide who is executed

just back from this and I wasn't overly impressed to be honest. Dragged on for far too long, wasn't as much action as I thought there would be and don't personally think it was any better than the first one.

Has set up for the next film though.

R (3).webp

Beltin'. Properly crafted, period political biography with echoes of Goodfellas and oddly enough Assassination of Jesse James. Really well made, with scenes given time to build and breathe, strong writing and an incredibly impressive cast across the board but clear shouts for LaKeith Stanfield as the impossibly compromised Bill O'Neal and a stunning turn from Daniel Kaluuya as Fred Hampton - the lads coming on like a 21st century De Niro at this point.

Soundtrack is unsurprisingly off the scale.

Netflix. Be quick though.
