I was also perplexed when I read that mate.

What was the thought process there?

Where they like: Yes! Having a Mexican standoff with an alien in the wild west! That's exactly how Ian Fleming would envision it! 🤷‍♂️
I think he got it on Layercake, specifically working with Greengrass, who'd done the Bourne stuff and kicked Bond up the arse with the spy-on-spy idea.

AND?!?

Don't bury the lead mate... A really young Marisa Tomei! 😍

Never mind the fact that she won an Oscar for that performance.
I assumed that wasn't needed. I've even stuck her in the fit birds thread before now.

And she’s even more beautiful now then she was back then. A true natural beauty.

Most youngsters today wouldn’t get a classic like this.

They have no idea who Joe Pesci is.
Then try explain to them that in the late 80’s to mid 90’s, that what was a legitimate tough guy was considered to be.

Throw this one into the mix if you haven't seen it yet mate...

It's bonkers mate.

And the time travel rules in this one are ridiculous!

They manage to bring an Apache War Helicopter back to 1877.
Yes, you heard me right.
Helicopters in the wild west mate!
Is that Michael Nesmith presents.... as in Monkees Michael Nesmith?

Another one for the must-see list.

The Thing ('82). No idea what took me so long. Bloody brilliant, holds up well and what a staggering achievement it must have been when it came out.

Latest in the long line of "I can't believe it took me so long to see this" movies....

Escape From New York - Obviously great but made all the better by Donald Pleasence just not bothering with an American accent despite playing the President. Adrienne Barbeau's cleavage probably should have been given a separate credit as well - scene stealing performance.
Snap, that's next on my list! Another John Carpenter and Kurt Russell film.

The thing 1982 is great…and the thing I liked about most John Carpenters movies is the unadulterated 80s synth score which John Carpenter himself did

I would have said Hugo Weaving is one of Australia's finest actors. But he was born in Nigeria.
Guy Pearce was born in England, so he's out.

Therefore, the honour rightly and honourably goes to Yahoo Serious.

Delinquents on show right here... What was that one early 80's about unrequited love between an aboriginal boy and a white girl? It didn't end well.
