Last Film You Watched

He has a point, but he will command a huge fee and it's a massive risk for a studio. So it's not surprising.

He is obviously a bit of a creep but I'd watch a film he was in if I wanted to see the film.

There are a lot of problematic people in the arts so to cut off everyone means you'll just watch tom hanks films or listen to imagine dragons, and just think about how boring that life would be
I still enjoy the movies he was in, but probably wouldn't be too keen to watch any new ones unless it was something I was already desperate to see.

With sexual offences there is not being found guilty and then there not having done anything wrong.

As someone who still watches the naked gun movies I can hardly take any moral highground
All good points...

Off the top of my head: The Usual Suspects, American Beauty and Se7en have all been outstanding performances.

Especially Se7en. He played the creepy psychopath a little to well, if you know what I mean.

It's true if you hear some of the horror stories coming out of Hollywood, some of the actors are complete nightmares to work with...

At some point he'll work again, which if he stays in his lane will be fine. I know I'd be watching my ass 24/7 if I was on set with him.

@Walken, Re: Your last point... Do know how many movies Harvey Weinstein has his name on as an executive producer? Countless from 1989 - 2016... So don't feel to bad mate. 😂

I'm in a similar place, I've gone right off that knobend will smith, bit to full of his own importance. In the main its been quite easy to retrospectively ignore his work but there's a couple I did enjoy that it seems a shame to punish others I like for being in. (Enemy of the state).
How far do you run with it? Have you seen the producer list of weinstein? (cofounded Miramax - 'Pulp fiction', yeah! that Miramax) Turns out kirk douglas was a nasty sack of turds*, cosby, depp, wahlberg, sizemore, nolte, busey, dutton, gibson, allen, trejo, jones. The more you look, the darker things get.
I'm not sure there is a way to enjoy art in isolation, do we bin all the harry potter guff because the books author turned out to be a rather shouty oddball? Bin father ted on the same set of rules? Not to excuse any of them or their crimes - people have always done bad things and worse, only now with intrusive media, 24 hour news and small portable personal computers permanently connected to the internet (smart phones) there is far more scrutiny and space for behaviours (bad and otherwise) to be judged.

Is participating in a media event an act of enablement for those starring in and being paid for that media?

Just done similar.

The spacey one is difficult, LA Confidential, Glengarry glen ross, Moon, he's been prolific in picking good roles and good films. Was particularly smarmy in 'house of cards' as well. Does it take a snide to play a snide?

Well, at the very least, I don't think he has to dig too deep into his acting locker to play an a-hole. It looks natural to him.

With Smith I like to think the true reason he hit chris rock was for his performance in fargo, and therefore fully justified, in all seriousness he comes across as a little unhinged.

I think you can absolutely seperate the art from the artist, Chinatown is a masterpiece. The problem for would be for me if someone was to jump on some kind of sycophantic bandwagon for them and start championing them specifically.

I've no issue with someone being allowed to earn a living and fully embrace the possibility of reform for all rather than ostracization from society. The issue for actors and others in the entertainment industry is that their employment is dependent on some extent on public opinion, and if the market research suggests you are untouchable that's a business decision.

Is that because of the role selection? Nicholson, Mitchum, DeNiro, have all played unhinged characters seemingly very easily. Do we as an audience identify with the nut cases more easily than the fine upstanding statuesque virtuous hero types?

Done again here. Top marks as well.

I can give you a good example of this right now...

Jerry is sticking up for Richards now... After that racist incident, Richards became toxic and nobody would touch him. I think they're paving the path for a Seinfeld reunion... Don't quote me on that though!

I hope not, I think the reunion they did on curb was the perfect way to mock the reunion concept while still getting to do it!

Could be... Nut cases and evil characters are more layered and more interesting to watch!

Another example is Bryan Cranston in 'Breaking Bad'. Heisenberg was my idol for a while. 😂
