Last Film You Watched

Cobweb ( Netflix but not one of their films )

This would’ve got my vote for the best horror I’d seen since Sinister, but for the last ten minutes, which completely destroyed everything that the rest of the film had done so well.

A young lonely boy, lives in a creepy house, with his very severe parents. ( Antony Starr - Homelander plays his dad )

He starts to hear something moving in his bedroom wall at night time and the film develops from there.

One hour thirty minutes of the film are horror excellence - massively creepy, atmospheric, no cgi, relying on the writing to build an overwhelming sense of dread and foreboding and then totally destroyed by the last ten minutes of complete nonsense.

Deserves to be re done with a different ending.
Yeah, I remember really liking this until the ending went a bit daft

bbc 1 10:40pm tonight.

(Finding this picture suddenly I realised, there's 8 people in the film, 6'10'' Bolaji Badejo not in pic, but Holm, Stanton, Kotto, Hurt and Badejo have all died)
Skerritt is 91, Cartwright 75, and Weaver 74. For completeness sake, Ridley Scott is 86.

It was such a shame, almost like the ending was an afterthought.
I've not seen it but is the ending vague, undefined and incredibly unsatisfying by any chance?

So many writers get away with it and mask it as being high concept or deliberately ambiguous when the actual reason is that they just have some good ideas but lack the basic ability to tell an actual story with a beginning, middle and end.

It’s in no way vague, it’s the complete opposite in fact.

The film spends 1hr 30 carefully constructing the storyline and characters. Making you question whether everything is as it seems and then just abandons it all in favour of cheap CGI and a lazy ending.

Can't quite put my finger on it yet, 45 minutes in, besides her accept slipping. Elements of 'the road', 'the lotr', 'the last of the mohicans', 'conan the barbarian', there's one I'm missing. Seems to have high ratings, but I'm not onside with it yet. 'Spartacus' maybe?
