Last Film You Watched

Think it's a Film4 +1 job this evening. France Scotland a bit to good to leave.

Black bag

Good concept, some great acting moments, poor story

No idea how this film has 7.4 on IMDb which is why I went to see it. They could have done so much better at the end of the film.

6/10

Marching Powder

Thought it would be poetic to watch this film today given that we played West Ham. It had some funny moments but again the story was lacking. Tranmere even got mentioned. It was quite a poor film to be honest, what do you expect when Danny dryer is the lead actor.

4/10

The Presence.

This is one that will really divide opinion, as with most of Steven Sodergergh films you get something a bit different.

The film is filmed as though you’re seeing things through the eyes of “ the presence “, so you feel like you’re actually looking through the camera - which takes a bit of getting used to.

A seemingly well off happy family move into a plush house in a desirable neighbourhood with their two kids and their daughter starts to sense that something is watching over her and looking out for her in her bedroom - the presence.

The film is very slow to start with, as things start to unravel bit bit by bit.

It’s not a horror film, more like a slow burning supernatural film, which has a massive twist in the last five mins, that you really don’t expect or see coming.

One you need to watch by yourself, as there’s little clues all the way through, that are easy to miss if you switch off.

Watched this last night. Can imagine it being divisive, but I was pretty well engaged with it throughout.

At least it was an original idea / presentation of the haunted house-type story

And the final “reveal” shot, genuinely made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, proper chills. Just a perfect execution of the reveal.

Saw this last night - The Last Breath.

Dramatisation of the documentary of the same name, about a commercial deep sea diving accident in the North Sea at an oil pipe on the sea bed and the attempts to rescue a stranded diver.

Bar Woody Harrelson, pretty much an excellent all British cast.

Proper edge of the sea stuff and the cinematography is just off the scale, as you almost feel that you’re under the water with them. ( needs to be watched on a big screen )

At an hour and a half long, it’s a perfect length and does a real good showcasing how truly dangerous commercial diving on and around the oil rigs is.

Watched Mullholland Drive last night.

My head plays tricks on me with alarming regularity. I was sure I'd seen a film called Mullholland Drive.. I definitely hadn't.

Is there another film with a similar title from round about the same time? I only have vague memories of the film. Classic noir, set in the 40s, corrupt cops. I think Nick Nolte was in it.
