Last Film You Watched

Saw the Steve Jobs film at the cinema on Sunday night.

Brilliantly written (hardly surprising, from Sorkin) and acted - Jeff Daniels as John Sculley was particularly good.

Wasn't at all sure when i heard what the structure of the film was going to be, but it worked very well.

Babadook was quite clever but nothing amazing, similar concept to Hitchcock's The Birds. 6/10 worth a watch in my book.

My personal favourites:

Paranormal Activity series (part 4 is the only dud...the rest are great, 1st one is scariest film ever)
REC 1 & 2 (best zombie films...watch in original Spanish with subs...avoid parts 3 & 4)
Interview with the Vampire (one of the very best book-to-film adaptations, makes you thirsty for blood)
Bram Stoker's Dracula (also great adaptation, makes you thirsty for Winona Ryder)

others which were really good:

Dog Soldiers (favourite comedy-horror this)
Open Water (utterly terrifying...not supernatural, tho')
Altered States (mix of sci-fi & horror...not scary but still powerful)
The Shining (slightly overrated, not scary...but still an engaging watch)
Rosemary's Baby (you feel so utterly helpless for the woman...horrific)
Blair Witch Project (finally saw this for the first time recently...a classic)
As Above, So Below (set in those underground Parisian catacombs...very atmospheric)

Thanks mate!

Agree with everything there.. the Shining annoy's me the praise it gets.. very average.. Might get her to watch Altered Shades.. sounds good !
Blasphemy! :red:

Rec2 picks up the exact moment Rec1 ends...set in the same building...same style and pacing, more depth, more WTF moments and one of my favourite endings in film.

Such a shame they dropped the formula for parts 3 & 4.

They partly returned to the formula for 4, at least in continuity, although it was odd that they dropped the narrative thread. Rec 3 is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

I thought Babadook was better than that - a clever concept and genuinely unsettling at times. You're quite right that both this and The Birds play with the PTSD metaphor, though.

I've enjoyed the Paranormal Activity series. 1 & 2 are much better than 3 & 4. Looking forward to seeing the finale this weekend, even though I expect to be disappointed.

If you like that kind of stuff then try a little known japanese movie called "audition".

Still gives me nightmares a decade later...not kidding.

Great film, pretty messed up tho! It is very slow going, don't watch it when you're tired, but the end is worth the wait.

Kitty kitty kitty!

Just watched VACATION (In works time...Love my Job) remake of the Chevvy Chase Movies, Quite amusing actually and Christana Applegate so its a winner winner Chicken Dinner as far as I'M CONCERNED!!

She's always been stunning...showstopper.

Didnt like the movie though.

" THE SHINING ( SLIGHTLY OVERRATED, NOT SCARY...BUT STILL AN ENGAGING WATCH ) " WTF !

Consistently voted as the scariest film ever. Nicholsons slow decent into madness, the cinetography, the use of his son to unsettle the audience when he has visions of the evil within the hotel. Nicholsons immersion in the role - you believe he really has gone mad. The isolated location, the weather. I could go on and on. Its not only one of the best horror films ever made, it's one of the best films ever made. Read the book if you haven't ( a classic ) and you'll see how true the film stays to the film, which is very difficult due to a lot of what's going on is in his head.

You are very very wrong on this one.
