Last Film You Watched

Disappointing double-header: from memory American Werewolf in London & Event Horizon were strong 8/10 films. But almost 20 years of occasional film-buffery later watching them a second time reveals both to be cheesy, somewhat boring, badly-scripted, cheaply-acted and stupidly-plotted. There was the odd moment of good stuff: the werewolf-transformation is still impressive, and there's some nice-looking atmospheric shots in Event Horizon.

4/10 each...not particular recommended.

Watched bone tomahawk...pretty boring other than the final 30mins or so...

Ex machina....how obvious is that movie

3/10 for each due to the nudity.

Blancanieves.

Fantastic Spanish silent film. A retelling of Snow White set around bull fighting in 1920s Seville. Hugely overlooked as The Artist landed before it, this handsome, funny and bold little gem is, I reckon, a better film and a more rounded and successful tribute to the golden age of silent cinema. It's on Amazon Prime for a couple of days. Highly recommended.

still fairly recently, that...i saw it at the cinema in the 90's, was blown away back then...just didn't click now.
I have to agree Doc,I loved both films when they were released but after watching them recently they were not quite the polished article I thought they were, still worth a watch but certainly only in the mid range score out of 10

not that keen on these metaphor horrors...give me some proper real monsters!

ay up jay...what you recommend from films that are older but still hold up now? i'm hoping Fire in the Sky is as good as I remember it...also been almost 20 year since last watch, might put it on tonight

Eh the paranormal activity movies weren't for me. half the film is just a tour of their house ffs than something moves a bit. some other good shouts in here though
