Just watched Moneyball.

I don't know much about baseball, i know the rules from playing computer games but i couldn't name any modern day players in fact i only know babe ruth n barry bonds. Its a sport any fat old crock can play if they can throw a ball or hit a ball, i'l probably get abuse for saying that from americans on here but thats my opinion.

The principles of what Oakland Athletics tried to do and was succesfully copied by the red sox was very interesting though and should have stato's on here creaming, i know a lot of you like your figures and percentages.

In theory its spot on but could only work in the franchise/rosta system rather than footballs transfer market. Its a good indicator that in a sport where athleticism isn't really a must that stats and analytics work an d prove that the biggest budget doesn't always make the best team.

Overall I enjoyed the film it was very interesting even for a none baseball fan. I give it a 8/10

Very interesting to hear from someone not too familiar with baseball. Pleasantly surprised that the movie translates cross-culture like that. Pretty sure I'd be entirely lost watching a similar movie about cricket, or some other sport that's similaly foreign to me. I'm a big-time baseball fan, and loved the book....but the Moneyball theories can only get you so far. $$$ still generally rules the day in Major League Baseball.

Oddly enough, the "sports guy" (popular sports writer in the US. Personally not my favorite) likened Everton the the Oakland A's when he was trying to select an EPL team to support. Getting the best-bang-for-your-buck and all that. This will make you cringe...there's tons of cheeky crap and misinformation here (especially the going-on about the gobsh*tes) but it's a window into the American sports fan trying to understand the world of British football. FWIW...

Now I know cockney mongrel Danny Dyer isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I rewatched The Business this afternoon.

Easily Danny Dyer's best film (not hard!).

The soundtrack is awesome too. All 80's classics.

watched Considine's directorial debut "Tyrannasaur" (sp?)

it was alright but I wasn't impressed TBH

if you've seen any of the Ken Loach films that star Peter Mullan

then you've basically seen this film as well

I saw The Hunger Games last week and quite enjoyed it. I thought the adverts made it look a bit stupid but I heard that the reviews were really good. I was quite surprised.

What do you make of "Human Traffic" ?

Wrath Of The Titans is great fun if you like that sort of thing, and a vast improvement on the first one. Plus, Rosamund Pike is hot.
