SO WHAT if they want to make a profit (potential new owners)?

How they going to achieve that? By making us BETTER!

They'd only make a profit if we're in regular European competition, and isn't that what we all want?

They'd only make a profit if we dramatically improve our commercial offerings, something Kenwright hasn't been capable of doing in 15 years.

They'd not make money off us by offloading our best players; they'd bring in new ideas, expand our potential and hopefully push us on.

How fitting that on the day before Christmas, we're talking about a Noel taking over the mighty Everton FC of Merseyside! Hurrah - bring it on!

Take it you're one of the few who's okay with Earl?

My understanding is ...

If it goes ahead then I'd assume the board will be in favour of selling their shares and recommend it to the other shareholders. In theory, there are enough minority shareholders ( > 25% ) to reject a complete takeover, but in reality if the board are happy to sell their shares then it'll go through and the new owners would have control of 75%+ of the shares.

At that point they can force the remaining shareholders to accept the agreed price whether they like it or not.

@hibbo'sclass will correct me if I'm talking bollocks.

Edit : Ignore the above, @hibbo'sclass has already got @The Esk to explain it.

;)

No, shut up.

These would be majority shareholders whose interest it would be to move us forward and make the club as a whole more valuable.

Earl is in it for the payday TV deals and eventually selling up; he's never had any intention of us getting better.

By changing hands we'd have to invest and improve for the new guys to turn a profit. No problem with that.

Well they Prob would, the other thing we are very used to our board not taking money out of the club this may or may not happen under new owners. Whether it be through loans + interest etc.

So Earl didn't buy in to the Kirby dream and then become passive after that got the kibosh?

The articles talk about investment, it's very difficult to buy all the shares in Everton. I just think it's interesting of course no one knows for certain, can't help but have the feeling of not liking this overall.

And

We will never get rid of Howard.

tbf i don't think the RS have bought one yank since their takeover. I love the shout in the board thread about bradley, donovan and dempsey, adverts and tannoy music - it hasn't happened at any other football club in europe that have been taken over by yanks.

I want a big massive Costco next to the new stadium, corndogs and Coors Light at half time and cheerleaders lining the pitch pre-match. Get us a new shirt sponsor, preferably Reece's the chocolate brand, so they can replace throwing Everton mints (do they still do that?) with Reece's Peanut Butter Cups.

Get in. USA USA USA!

Maybe. Who knows. I'm sure he's already had more from the club than he put in anyway, so he'll be sound with it having no worked. Now he's just after that payday.

I am warming to the idea a bit regardless of what happened in San Diego.

The biggest thing he did was convince the city to fund the stadium for him.

There is no way he can do the same in Liverpool.

Even though Bill Kenwright will want to protect the future of Everton FC in any sale the truth is he won't be able to do so.
Any new owner/investor will not commit hundreds of millions of pounds to a project and then find their options limited because of conditions put on them at the time of purchase.

However, the more successful and profitable they make their new acquisition then ultimately the wealthier they become.

So, from a practical point of view that aspirations of the new and old owners converge, the fans of course always want the club to be successful
and don't worry as much about profitability.

The enormous amounts of money that are about to flow into the Premiership from TV and the opportunity to market a club like Everton to an ever increasing football supporting wealthy fanbase in America must offer huge potential for the new owners to make themselves a lot of money by growing the brand rather than destroying it.

I'm up for the cheerleaders ... unless it's a cold day like.
