The number of big monied owners in the league now means no buyer could guarantee us success on the pitch. We'd have needed to find that owner 10/15 years ago for that. So in all likelihood they're gonna be in for the profit. I think the best we can hope for is a mutually beneficial situation really.

It feels like this should be great news, yet it's somehow a bit...meh.
like other's said there's not much wrong with that and almost any new ownership/investor will be in it for the money. as long as they take the club forward via new stadium, increased commercial performance , and don't saddle us with debt via a leverged buyout who cares if they plan to sell for profit down the road?

everton fan base will split into million peaces in this process, and if/when we're starting to talk about new stadium...wrists will be slit and tears will be shed...

Actually once you have agreement from the Board to sell, you only need pick up another 7% of the shares which would give you 75%. Once you have 75% a scheme of arrangement gives you the remaining shares.

But if I was a minority share holder like say Earl, would I walk away from a shareholding knowing that new management may look at commercial revenue and new ground thus increasing my shareholding, not saying that's the case just at Everton it's quite complex.

I doubt people would be wasting time if they didnt have some sort of agreement that they could gain the shares needed to gain full control.

The fact that they have exclusivity in terms of due diligence, they've reportedly signed a Heads of Terms, suggests that Earl is in agreement with their proposed offer.

I know mate, but the headlines are never written by the journos with the source who write the article.

This is well known, no.

No, but they take their lead from the article. The first line of the article is "An American-led consortium is hoping to complete a takeover of Everton within the next six weeks, The Times can reveal". It then goes on to talk about the difficulties of buying all the shares from the different shareholders, but nonetheless gives the impression that the aim is a takeover.

I made my points in the board thread so to re-iterate;

TLDR;

  1. I'd like more info and also to see if there's another rival, better, more suitable consortium bidding as well
  2. Does nobody else think it's spooky that the blokes' name is John Moores?

What like one John Moores made us great and the other might end the cycle?

Wow. This looks like it might actually happen.

Not sure how I feel about it, tbh. Most of me is all for it, but there's a slight feeling of 'better the devil you know' here.

I'm for it, we currently have a board that haven't invested a penny, have no business plan except to stay in the PL and survive on sky tv handouts, there's not much left to asset strip and the people currently interested arent going to shell out £300m to sell £150m worth of players,
