You see quite a lot around social media people saying they don't want Everton to be bought out and just buy the league as thats not the right way to do it.

I've not once ever seen us win a thing. 95 I was 3. Its now been what 21 years since Everton won a trophy.

Realistically the only way to win anything these days is with big money. You get the occasional smaller side winning the Carling Cup but thats it. The exception to the rule every 15 years.

Yet theres actually Everton fans who don't want us to be taken over with aload of money to throw about because it wont feel right?

Sound, i look forward to being 50 after another 25 trophyless years and telling my kids how great we where 75-100 years ago.

Don't listen to them mate, anyone that says they don't want a sheikh buyout needs medical intervention. I saw the 80s success and I want my kids to see similar.

The sentiment is ace, RE proposed HUGE investment Vs 'the slow-build', sadly the latter's just not really feasible in this day and age....a team of local lads playing for the badge is very dreamy and all lovely but, even if a couple of kids are unearthed then they tend to move on from clubs of our size and stature anyway (see ROONEY). Would they if the side was made of bigger names? Dunno...

That's why the LEICESTER thing is SO astonishing, I'd LOVE them to win it. It'd be brilliant, it'd offer SO much hope, but the reality is different. And if they did win it it'd be a one off because the big boys will just 'buy up' again.

I'm not suggesting I'd be truly happy essentially 'buying trophies', so to speak, because, well, it stinks a bit doesn't it....but we need huge investment to compete....HUGE.

So I'd prob be content with a bit of that stink TBH.

City's owners have bought in top draw players, won trophies, built a new traning ground, poored money into the academy , expanded the stadium and spent millions on community facilities in a deprived area around eastlands.

Anyone who doesn't want owners like that is lying
And it was between us and City who they bought, without a shadow of doubt Bill's asking price put them off.

Bill and Wyness met with QIA who bought PSG aswell, and I know for a fact Bill's valuation was baulked at by them and they left the table.

Hi mate, not specifically but there has been a number of "schemes" muted.

I think you are correct in your view. A third party providing a stadium doesn't seem do-able certainly from a developers point of view - I can't see how it would generate sufficient revenue to warrant the investment even if it could attract other tenants as well as Everton.

Re naming rights, I am not convinced they are as valuable as some others think unless you have a benevolent sponsor such as Etihad for example.

Based on all of that (let alone the Council's expectations) I'd be amazed if such a deal came about.

What's the commercial value of the land at WHP? If the City were to give all the land and allow commercial development (along with greenspace development), surely the leasing fees would help recoup direct investment by the developer? Not sure what commercial development lending is like over there, but 7% amortized to 20 years (assuming you'd have a balloon well before that) would give you ~£2M monthly debt service. Would the club be prepared to pay £24M annually in rent? Be surprised if you get a stadium for much less. Leasing the adjoining space for commercial use should create the incentive/profit a developer would desire.

I agree mate. Our previous successes weren't paid for with thin air either.

They walked away because of the comparison between goodison city being given a ground. Less outlay

Kenwright and his cronies were asking for 300m, I doubt the City owners cared much for a new stadium, they'd have built their own lavish ground no problem to their own spec.

If the asking price had been more realistic from Kenwright we may very well be sat where City are now.

It was the ground.
