There were strong rumours on Twittor this was dead in the water a while back. It'd do the credibility of some seemingly ITK people no good at all.

Be interesting to see how it pans out.

If you believe the rumours and supposition behind the ownership of Everton them I'd be amazed to see us sold. The club appears to be a great vehicle for others to use as and when required.

There was strong rumours we were sold last week, dont thibk anyone really knows, DD should be over so hopefully we will hear something soon. Now the TW shut there is no rush

City's owners have bought in top draw players, won trophies, built a new traning ground, poored money into the academy , expanded the stadium and spent millions on community facilities in a deprived area around eastlands.

Anyone who doesn't want owners like that is lying

Whilst I agree with you to a degree, I think what a lot of people are wanting is a billionaire who invests sensibly, new stadium is always top of the agenda, then ensuring we obtain valuable assets like finch farm etc etc, then build the squad slowly, I would much rather see a team earn the trophy with the likes of Ross and such than just looking at a team of mercenaries with no feeling of hard work and graft mixed with home grown talent.

I don't care how we win stuff, be it home grown, mercenaries, hard work even cheating. I just want us to win everything.

Just so I can poll into work and act like a petulant **** like City and Chelsea fans do.

I feel the transfer of Niasse was disclosed to show Evertonians the club is spending money.
In real terms very little was spent net after taking away the fee and wages for Naismith and the wages for McGeady and McAleny.
I would guess any potential new owner would be happy to approve such spending even for positive publicity alone.

...you need to add the wages for Niasse and his agents fee and similar for Tarashaj. I've never been much concerned with 'net sale'...its what you put on the pitch is important, and Martinez has been true to his word, he has improved the squad at each window. Any potential owners will see the improvement in player assets, but none of that will make them happy if these improved assets continue to find it hard to win games. Thats the crux of it all....and I support Martinez in his long term project.

Every single player that team is a mercenary with the exception of Ross, Osman and Hibbert. This is what football is and you're going to have to come to terms with it. With that in mind, it makes sense to have the best mercenaries available.

An update (his thoughts) from Rory Smith

Since I'm here (in the press room at Norwich), and since it doesn't really qualify as a story, here is an update on the Everton situation, as far as I can tell.

About six weeks ago - as I am reminded daily on Twitter - we ran the story that a group of US investors, led by Charles Noell and John Moores, were talking about buying Everton. Their period of exclusivity to perform due diligence ends, well, about now.

As far as I can tell - from the information I can gather - the deal is still alive. There has been no definitive conclusion reached, but nobody has walked away or pulled the plug or anything. What should happen next is another round of talks, fine-tuning price and ironing out any difficulties.

That's no guarantee it will lead to a deal, but it's worth bearing in mind two things: they have already tried to invest in a club (Swansea) so know what the process entails, and how drawn-out it can be, and they have also had lawyers and various consultants engaged on Everton for some time: months, certainly. That is an awful lot of money invested already just in fees. That is all I know as things stand. There is no concrete answer yet. These are enormously complicated deals, and they take a long time to come together. But there is still, to the best of my knowledge, a deal to be done.
