Remember the players we had then compared to what we have now!!!!!
It takes time to build a confident winning team, so please give Bill and Bobby a chance

Next year will be OUR year!!!!!

I'm on the opposite coast from SD, seems like opinions are mixed on their time with the Padres from what I've read. Also even within in this thread some American blues said he was good up til his divorce while other's think he was a bad owner. That being said I don't think his time with the Padres is all that relevant. I think a key issue is if it's solely Moores and Noell or if it is a true consortium (consisting of investors on both sides of the pond)

Yeah, the fact that the Padres never won a World Series under his ownership shouldn't be too big of a deal for us. Baseball's a hard sport if you're a small or mid market team. Competitive for a year or two, maybe 3 if you're lucky, then you get to blow everything up for 4 or 5 years while you rebuild for you next shot. Rinse and repeat, ad nauseam. Even then, there's no guarantee of success.

The only teams that can stay at the top are the big market teams who have the cash to throw around in free agency to plug the holes, and the only exception to this rule are the St. Louis Cardinals. The Padres had two division titles a decade ago, so they've been in the mix.

tl;dr don't look too much into the Padres' performance when trying to evaluate these owners.

Not a Kenwright fan by any stretch but I don't have a good feeling about this one. Hope I'm wrong like, but I can see a lot of "Prayed for decades for someone to take over, taken over by someone worse than Kenwright. Everton, that." comments on their way...

Me too, just not feeling it, for some it seems to be just a case of wanting to see Kenwright gone no matter who comes in, just like we all just wanted to see Johnson gone.
Maybes its because its American buyers, which hasn't done Liverpool or Villa any good.

So we've done poorly with the two clubs Evertonians wish were both relegated.

No mate, we've just been clearing the path for Everton's return to greatness.

If you can purchase the majority of shares, and therefore push through a compulsory buyout of the rest, why wouldn't you do it?

You get full realisation of any share value you add. You avoid having a minority of shareholders that can cause problems (see our last AGM).

Only reason I could see for not going all out is a lack of funding. Which is a worry with the amount of future investment we're hoping for.

Amazing to me that people want an oil tycoon or a Chinese consortium for the club. Have you seen the price of oil or the state of the Chinese stock market lately? Those guys have no money at all any more.

Same here, completely irrational as I'm not basing it on anything other than 'a feeling', I'm utterly ignorant of the whole financial side of things, but from the perspective of the parasitic speculator (just a generic one, not specifically these American guys), laying down £200 million (of a banks money from what I'm gathering, i.e. the parasite lays down £0) then 4 or 5 months later Sky gives you £100 million TV dough, bank the lot and start piping off about prioritising a new stadium, sell Stones, Lukaku and Barkley for approx £100 million and throw Roberto £40 million for new players whilst still banging the new stadium drum, bank another £60 million from that and your on easy street, even if your relegated next year from what I'm hearing 20th place will bank £100 million from the TV trough, so within a year you can have paid off the initial £200, have some profit and now can sell the club on for pure profit... probably a completely oversimplified thought, but not outside the realm of possibility

Surely (if this speculation proves to be right) Moores has other plans than just sit in Kenwrights place. Kenwright wouldnt sell if Moores would continue the stagnation.

If there's just a change of majority shareholders (which to be honest the share price suggests to be most likely) then the remaining shareholders must call an EGM - I will help gain the support and question exactly what is the benefit for the club in just changing shareholders but there being no additional capital put into a business that desperately needs it in order to (i) remain in current position or (ii) have any hope of improving its competitive position on the pitch.

Spot on.
