If you can purchase the majority of shares, and therefore push through a compulsory buyout of the rest, why wouldn't you do it?

You get full realisation of any share value you add. You avoid having a minority of shareholders that can cause problems (see our last AGM).

Only reason I could see for not going all out is a lack of funding. Which is a worry with the amount of future investment we're hoping for.

Mayhaps because there are a lot of fans among the minority shareholders and pissing them off wouldn't be the first thing you'd want to do at your new club?

Well most of you have been praying for new owners and its look like this will happen soon so just remember life is not always greener on the other side.

I've always felt safe with kenwright
I've always been very wary when it came to a takeover. I'm certain there are a few decent options out there. Not convinced at all by this Moores/Noell one though.

Same here, completely irrational as I'm not basing it on anything other than 'a feeling', I'm utterly ignorant of the whole financial side of things, but from the perspective of the parasitic speculator (just a generic one, not specifically these American guys), laying down £200 million (of a banks money from what I'm gathering, i.e. the parasite lays down £0) then 4 or 5 months later Sky gives you £100 million TV dough, bank the lot and start piping off about prioritising a new stadium, sell Stones, Lukaku and Barkley for approx £100 million and throw Roberto £40 million for new players whilst still banging the new stadium drum, bank another £60 million from that and your on easy street, even if your relegated next year from what I'm hearing 20th place will bank £100 million from the TV trough, so within a year you can have paid off the initial £200, have some profit and now can sell the club on for pure profit... probably a completely oversimplified thought, but not outside the realm of possibility

That is the business model this club has been using for years. Is it ok if the world's best ever Evertonian oversees it?

Kenwright haters have been bashing this board for years now. It's finally happening and you guys do nothing but moan and panic. You couldn't make this up.

No one 'hates' Kenwright, those Kenwright 'lovers' would like it to be seen that way, through the dewey eyed sentimentality they see him as some anti hero and at the same time recognise he is a businessman, caught between a rock and a Green space, with the club's best interests at heart. Which is it?

The use of emotive rhetoric around his persona is actual manna for Bill, the spotlight, the footlights is what he craves. Stop fuelling his legacy.

Plenty of fancy words.

I totally agree, but at some stage a change needs to happen for us to move closer to being a top top team, I just hope it's the right people buying us. Americans do love their sport so let's hope that's a good thing.

But Arsenal, Newcastle, Blackburn and the RS were all at a different level back then too. Could argue Arsenal still are mind.

Anyrate.

Aye mate true enough, but notat the level of finances that both City and Chelsea now and have enjoyed for a good few years

The RS financially weren't any better off though - they just spent it better, Arsenal still are now - they just had a period of none spending really paying off that stadium and are back to business now

Just because we don't want kenwright in charge it doesn't mean we are willing to have anyone takeover just for the sake of it. You can't tell me this lot sound great .

Find the entire takeover thing weirdly amusing looking at the fans reactions, bang on about being held back under the current board and without new owners we will slowly sink into obscurity (could argue thats already happened), new owners on the verge and now we moan about the worry of what will happen, short answer is you can't have it both ways, we never are going to get a instant fix liek Chelsea and City did for a few reasons, the American group ARE NOT carpet baggers regardless of some peoples fears - they have zero track record for doing so - look in depth at the Padres and it is far from an asset strip - could argue the opposite - yes they made money from them, but they also oversaw their one period of success in that time and when they sold they had a shiny new stadium to boot.

for the past 15 years we have basically been a manager who is a disaster in the transfer market away from going into free fall - both Moyes and Martinez have thankfully excelled at buying the right players and not wasting much - both also have ensured that the squad never had to replace too much too soon by limiting sales of the better players, IF a new owner puts us further away from that precipice then i welcome it.

IF proportionate to the other clubs in the league we have the type of backing that Villa did in the early years under Lerner then we will benefit hugely in comparison - the single most important thing is we don't mess up player recruitment and either leave it to Martinez or bring someone in board who also understands football if we do go a director of football route
