Usmanov would like to buy Kroenke (largest Arsenal shareholder) out - there's no way he's selling his Arsenal holdings.

Historically yes, if I remember correctly it was a race to the top and existing shareholders backed Kroeneke, for the reasons many express about Usmanov. I think realistically it's never going to happen as much as he would like it and time isn't on his side, he has little or no sway there. Yet holds a significant shareholding worth a fortune.

Everton will announce they have been sold in a £200million takeover in the next few days.

But sources on Merseyside would not confirm the buyer and would only insist it is not the American consortium linked with the club at the end of last year. It is believed the new owners are a mystery group from the Middle East.

Insiders at Everton told this newspaper that it was at too sensitive a stage to even discuss the name of the buyer but an announcement is imminent – and possibly before Tuesday’s away game at Aston Villa in the Barclays Premier League.

The new owners will immediately have to deal with doubts about the future of the club’s best players, especially John Stones – who is a target for Manchester City and could fetch around £45million in the summer transfer window.

Interest from America was strong. A group led by the former owner of the San Diego Padres baseball team, John Jay Moores, and fellow entrepreneur Charles Noell were in talks with Everton owner Bill Kenwright.

Moores and Noell were also thought to be interested in Swansea but reached a point before Christmas where they were ready to perform due diligence on the accounts at Goodison Park.

They were actually among a number of interested parties from the US. In October a consortium with links to Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City had also considered an offer for the Premier League club.

While reports claimed Moores and Noell had been granted a period of exclusivity by Kenwright until the end of January to examine Everton’s finances.

A pic of Rooney, followed by the league table..
FFS.
Why ??

He hasn't just stated an interest, he is calling a certain sale in a few days, and the Americans out.
Putting it on the line is Matt.

Online news outlets are just click bait for advertising revenue. I'm not saying he doesn't know what's going on, maybe he does. But he might have just been told he's go to increase his click through rate by his line manager.
