I remember the first time I saw Leandro ('Leandro the Lion' for short) play: it was October in Montevideo, early Spring I recall, in 1992. I happened to be walking past the local antenatal clinic when I heard a scream. I entered to see a young woman, heavily pregnant, on an examination table, and an antenatal nurse on the floor. The nurse had fainted during the ultrasound.
I found this to be strange, until I looked on the monitor and understood: on the blue screen was the yet-to-be-born Leandro, performing Cruyff turns around his own umbilical cord. Despite still being enclosed in an amniotic sac it was evident he had a natural ability to play between the lines, while his workrate simply couldn't be faulted. I've followed his career ever since and can confirm he's the new Forlan.
