The ball seems to constantly break to the opposition on the edge of our area. We have no sweeping cover there, a foot in, a pain in the backside screening, a nippy little antagonizer to then lay the ball out wide on the break etc.
Loading our box with bodies seems to have simply added to the confusion and the deflection possibilities.
We've played two at home, its not panic stations. weve had a chocker run of fixtures in a 3 week period, its very like us to lose our only striker in this time.
A couple of wins on the bounce and we'd be top half. Leeds aways no fairytale, but we get to the end of the window and weigh up from there. we might benefit from dropping Gray or Gordon and putting an extra man in CM. we desperately need more legs, more cover, and more brains in midfield.
Hard(er) to beat will cover the cracks for now, and panic wont do that. Hate to say it but maybe focusing on a set piece and closing up shop is about the best we can do for now...
Crazy how many 50/50s or miss passes etc are always land for the opposition

Honestly though if Leeds happen to smash us by three or four goals this will be the first nail in the coffin for Lampard. Liverpool and Arsenal after this, could very, very easily be two points from 18 and rock bottom of the division. Hard to pick up confidence from there and the board may, rightly or wrongly, decide to act.

So if we lose a lot of games, we will he in trouble.

That's true of most of the league mate, if any team loses their next 3 games, their fans will be unhappy.

Alternatively we could win the next 3 games, probably be in the top 6 and everyone would be saying Lampard is a genius.

The moral of the story, if not to look at the league table until at least 10 games in, wait until the transfer window closes to judge performance, and probably accept we have had a tough start to the season, so have to be realistic with expectations.

Gonna be hopeful and say we grind out a 1-0 here. Will need a much better grip of the game and our CBs not pooing themselves with long balls like against Brentford though.

Why do we struggle with defensive headers out of our penalty area...we always seem to glance headers instead of getting substantial distance on it.

Could see us irritating the crap out of these. Dirty game with lots of yellows and possibly a red after we go 1 up against the run of play. Pickford to play a blinder.... 0-1 final!

Sporting Life doesn't rate our chances....

Correct Score: Leeds 2-1 Everton (Sky Bet odds: 7/1)

Leeds suffered their first defeat of the season at Brighton last weekend, a deserved loss based on the chances created in the game, though a return to Elland Road could see the Whites bounce back quickly.

Jesse Marsch's side have won both home games this term against Wolves and Chelsea, with their performance against the Blues emphatic (xG: LEE 2.13-0.72 CHE), and a similar level here would see them blow a poor travelling team away.

Everton were very fortunate to get a point at Brentford last time out, conceding a load of chances yet again on the road (xG: BRE 2.57-1.72 EVE). They have played two away games to date this season and allowed a combined 4.94 xGA.

The Toffees have played 10 away games under Frank Lampard and won just once while losing seven. In that period they have averaged 1.17 xGF and 2.28 xGA per away game, a shocking process, meaning a third home win for Leeds is on the cards.

Leeds finished below us last season.
We changed manager at the end of January. They did the same a month later.
Our new manager was one of the PL’s and England’s greatest midfielders and has managed Chelsea and Derby in England.
Their manager was a decent enough midfielder in MLS and played for the USA twice. He had never managed in England before Leeds but had done so in US, Austria (with moderate success) and Germany.
We sold Richarlison in the summer (scorer of 10 of our 43 PL goals last season).
They sold Raphina (scorer of 11 of their 42 PL goals) and Kalvin Phillips, one of their best midfielders.
During the transfer window, we have spent £70 million (net -£13m). They have spent £105 million (net +£2m).
So far, so similar.
We took 4 points off them last season.
There is no good reason why we shouldn’t get points out of this game.
This game is a real indicator of where we are at as a club and where this season is headed.

It’s too bad the only time the board decides to act is when firing a manager. Just goes to show they can never get it right in the first place.
