Martinez might not have been too wrong bout him playing a holding role in the center of the park...pitty digne was injured but an an amazing pro to but in the last 2 performances that he has having not featured is some credit to Bainesy..top lad.

He was hopeless...as was Coleman. A hit and hope from 30 yards doesn't cover that up.

Hot and hope? He has scored goals from distance through this whole career Dave. He still have a brilliant left foot, composure on the ball, eye for a pass etc it’s literally his pace that has deteriorated as it does with everyone on earth as they reach a certain age

I’m still pulling my hair out over the result badly wanted a semi final, badly wanted it for Dunc and most badly of all I wish that fantastic goal would have meant something but it will be mostly forgotten.

Discussions are fine, obviously our fans are going to rate him highly.
Some of his stats were he'd scored and assisted more goals than any other defender in Europe for 3 or 4 seasons, in his own league, there were creative midfielders not with the record he had, he was a much better all round LB than Cole with his freekicking, penalties and assists trouncing Cole's records, but he was overlooked a lot for England because he didn't play for a top 4 club.

Baines would have walked into any top 4 club bar Arsenal in his pomp, turned down Utd twice.

Baines is deserving of a coaching role at the club when he retires, not these no marks like jeffers and co (Big Dunc is an exception based on what he has done in the last 2 weeks)
