Player Valuation: £25m
At his peak he was arguably the best left back in the Premierleague. He could have played for any top side in Europe and not looked out of place and we haven't had many of those players over the years.

Two of the best left backs in world football at the time. For me Baines shaded it as he was amazing going forward, Cole was only very good. Also, Baines was a far better defender than people gave him credit for. Someone else in the thread mentioned he could have played for any team in Europe and I agree, that's probably why Cole played more because of who he played for.A class act. His partnership with Piennar was a joy to watch. Just a pity at national level he was competing against arguably the best left back in the world - Ashley Cole - for a starting place. Great servant to the club. Good luck in the future Leighton.
Love him - just class personified
I know as a fact, when he was at his world class peak, Leighton turned down the chance to go to Bayern, all because he didnt want to disrupt his kids happiness and education, a class act of the highest order
Baines was better, Cole was at a bigger team, so got the nod.A class act. His partnership with Piennar was a joy to watch. Just a pity at national level he was competing against arguably the best left back in the world - Ashley Cole - for a starting place. Great servant to the club. Good luck in the future Leighton.
Still think we should've went all in for Tierney, but Digne is good too/My favourite player of all time. Gutted he's calling it a day but glad that in Digne we have an top top replacement.
