He had a good game yesterday defensively because we were getting behind the ball as a unit, he stayed deep, and he wasn't leaving Cleverley exposed.
The trouble arises with him when he feels he has to provide our attacking threat and he cant get back into position.
Considering his stop/start comeback after the initial injury and time on the sidelines, I thought he had a great game last night and gave us a dimension weve missed on the left. I hope this is the springboard to more of the same for him because he more than deserves it.
He looks half pace to me not fully fit his experience carried him through yesterday - oh someone tell him not to take corners as he can not beat the first man!

Had a great game IMO, looks to have got over his injury scares.
A fit and fresh Bainesy for the rest of the season, wonderful.
He got better (fitness wise) as the game wore on. Looked really sharp second half.
But yeh his crossing is poor.
Home games I'd probably carry on starting him. Maybe rotate with Oviedo for the away matches for the rest of the campaign.
No where near up to the speed of Ovideo as yet looks injured still seeing a specialist?
.....he is such a class act with a football at his feet. That left foot is like a magic wand, he's able to pick the simplest looking passes and angles when they aren't simple at all. No doubt in my mind that he's the no1 no3.
When 100% fit I agree, lacked a bit of pace going forwards had a very good game, just excuse him from corners please!
...his corners are useless, can't believe how bad they are. I really thought Willian would get at him yesterday but he didn't. I like Baines being in the side because he is the best we have.

One of my few disappointments from last night was when Barry did not quite spot that Baines was steaming onto a loose ball at the edge of the box and took it away from him. I am certain he would have got there just in time after about a 20 yard run up. Ball would have burst net, put a hole in back of St End and currently be part of the Northern Lights!!!!!

Furthermore, the left back taking right wing corners leaves us dangerously exposed to a right wing break from the opposition - a point that was cruelly exposed by SAF in one of Manures victories at GP when Baines was stranded miles out of position as they broke out and scored.
....yep, remember that but perhaps the defender might have got there first and it all worked out in the end!!
