He and Pienaar formed a fine combination down our left and Baines has never recovered his best form since Pienaar retired. Combination of injuries, age and the aforementioned departure at play. But personally I think he was a delight to watch in tandem with Pienaar in their pomp.

Unfortunately we need a new left back or two for practical reasons. I.e. we've only got one and he's getting on and injured!

Iirc the papers ran with like 150/160 but it later came out that it was a bit lower like 100/120.

Still, silly wages for an unproven lb.

Even though he's had a bad time of it with the Mancs, I would deffo take a punt on Shaw, still a quality player in there somewhere.
