Why has he struggled to find easy 2 yard passes then for most of this season. He's stronger and faster, that's it. Everything else like touch, passing, vision, creativity, finishing Osman is still better. Ross has a lot of improving to do. Two games back for Osman two wins.

Not with close control, Barkley can't keep possession. On the other hand Leon can't run with the ball like Ross can, and hasn't got the same power in his shots.

The way Osman adapts to playing a variety of positions and picks up spaces in the opponents half and makes it look so easy shows what a terrific player he is. Barkley really struggles to do this.
Barkley does a lot of things Osman never could. I have come to the conclusion though, that under Moyes Osman was never played to his strengths. He is a poor box to box midfield player. Moyes would never have countenanced giving someone a "free role" but this is essentially what Osman requires. The license to drift around. He remains very good at this and our performances have improved with him in the team.
