So... does Martinez FINALLY know what his best team is?

Has it finally taken an Osman injury for him to lose his automatic starting spot?

Hoping so much that is it for Osman now as a regular, he's way off standard. Good sub to keep a cool head when we need to see out the game, but that's about it for me.

spot on mate, the mythical osman purple patch, when hes not utterly horrible for a few games, and carries the team. I've seen him be our best player for more than a game once, a couple of seasons ago, time to get rid

The worry for me was that interview Martinez did where he said Osman has started the season 'magnificently'.

I had to check the date wasn't April 1st when I read that. He's been our worst player in every game we've played this season.

He's been decent in the past for us, but he's finished now. 32, too old, too slow, and loses the ball far too much. There's only room for one 30+ year old in our midfield and Barry is filling that role.

Think he's past it now but he's had a good career at Everton. Still think if we have a couple of injuries he is a player we need as back up but as others have said, he isn't good enough to start. He gives the ball away a lot and it's embarrassing how easy players go past him.

im new on ere and ere to kick some ass. lets start with the negatives. Osman has been pretty poor since the last 10 years with the odd good performance here and there. granted he had a good season last up to xmas but has a shocker pre and start of season. his passing has been poor and that's all he has to offer. saying that he is an honest player. positive -

Yes he's been poor this season no doubt. I've always thought Osman was a good squad player to have. An indicator of the strenght of our team over the last 10yrs has IMO been whether he's starting or not. When he has been starting it's usually been because we're lacking a player, whether that's been a winger or CM Osman playing has ment were short in that area.

Let's be honest, if Gibson had not been injured Osman wouldn't of been starting this season so people need to chill. McCarthy was never gonna be thrown straight in aswell as Barry. Pretty sure RM would of wanted ossie in there for a few games whilst the new boys settle in given the fact Gibson hasn't been available.

His injury will have now excellerated that process anyway. Barry Gibson and McCarthy will be the 3 fighting for those 2 CM spots. Ossie will be a direct backup/rotation for Barkley I would imagine as well as being 4th choice CM.

He's a good squad player, he's a blue and he's given us 10 + yrs of good service. Yep he shouldn't be first choice (which he's not) but he should be appreciated by us fans.

Just before he went off he was pushed of the ball like a child three times

Time for him to be gibbed off to the bench
