...he's not started the season well but I'm a fan and thought he was outstanding at times last season. This was a very recent period when he earned his first international cap. RM is clearly a fan and I think he is that really gifted type of footballer who makes the difficult things look simple. In last seasons Derby he was like a bull fighter, swaying between their midfielders, they couldn't get near him. The time might be right for him to become a squad player, but that just reflects how strong we are becoming in that area.

I think you've gone massively over the top there mate, to be honest.

"outstanding at times last season" - two times maximum, so you're arguably right there.

Unfortunately he is more and more making simple things look extremely difficult.

Also, "like a bull fighter in the derby" - f me!

Leon Osman becoming a squad player is, for me, no sign whatsoever that we're rapidly moving towards becoming a top four club.

My view on this is that Osman's best position, and only position ATM where he is of a required quality is behind the striker, but with Barkley about now, he will not see this spot again for the rest of his career. His body is catching up with him and this leaves him unnaffective in any deeper roles or out wide. I would say though, I believe he has a place on the bench as Barkley's cover, and top guy, top evertonian, top attitude, good to have around the club.

Exactly my sentiments. With the way he has played since the end of last year I can only see him being effective playing as a sub or in occasional matches further up the field where he can't cause too much damage when he gets muscled off the ball to easily or a pass goes astray as they have been too often recently.

He can pretty much only be used as Barkleys stand-in at this point.

Still love him though. Good lad Ossie.

Welcome mate.

I am a little shocked with the comments too, by some so called Blues.

No way has he been that bad this season, no chance. He as had his off games, but has also played well this season.

He should get more respect than I am reading. Lad his give his whole career to us, so what he is not as good as he once was, he deserves his place in the squad.

...lets just say we disagree.

Osmans ball control was his main asset. I would say that some games he was excellent and brought something to the team but unfortunately his bad games outweighed his good ones. That was/is his problem...inconsistency. He has always been slowish and lightweight but moreso this season. Age has caught up with him and IMO he is becoming more of a hinderence. I don't see a place for him in the team anymore. Maybe a sub but only for injuries as I don't think he could change a game.

Is right mate.

So what?

"Lads given us his whole career"

You make it sound like the best clubs in the country have been after him and we have had to battle to keep him, Osman has been well paid for his 13 years at the club

Its a joke that at 32 he was given a new contract by the club, His old one would not have run out till next year anyway, Do we really need him till 2015

Its like when any squad improves the once better players become increasingly poorer in comparison. I dont mind Osman but I think hes right down on the list of who should be starting for us when all fit.

Thats a different issue altogether. They offered him a deal, he accepted.

He still does not deserve the stick he is getting.

Dont know about you, but I have been used to to respecting players at Everton, that have given us great service, and been proud to wear the shirt.

So has every player who's ever played for the club, that's a stupid argument, aimed solely at decrying the lad's input.

That doesn't mean you can't call him crap if he's crap ffs

Respect players at the match but refusing to slate him on the internet because he's given us great service is daft

Still one of my favourites. Run yourself a montage of his goals. Still plays a lovely pass or nips trouble in the bud by reading it. Only last year he was good enough for England - now he is ****e? Have a word.

By the way I am not saying he's sh1te its just that he should be nowhere near our starting 11
