Del's nailed it here

We should have nothing but respect for someone who's earned millions for playing footy, yeah okay then, that should also make him exempt from any criticism ever, and we should sycophantically follow him and never objectively judge a players performance on a internet forum, otherwise we arent proper blues

Yeah but possibly you should be slightly more measured in your approach. At no point has anybody seemingly taken a rational view of little lord Leon. You either have to absolutely loathe his existance and get ludicrously worked up over every pass he messes up, or alternatively blindly love him as a reaction to the people who are not critical, but hyper critical of him. I appreciate that internet forums are not usually places for rationality, but its amazing how often people can't adopt a middle ground.

I've never rated him mate, but accept its me, foxy and butters in that minority of a group, not a great argument for rational thinking to be honest. The likes of Del and Ijjy didnt give him down the banks for no good reason, they've just seen how poor he is playing right now and are rightly commenting on it, and unfortunately seeing the full force of his bizarre little fan club

I may be wrong, but I believe its cyclical. Initially, it started off as people mildly overreacting to his performances and being overly critical. This in turn brings out the slightly sycophantic defence of him. That then further fuels the vitriol thrown in his direction because those that dont like him feel their view isnt being acknowledged which then furthers entrenches the need to be unremittingly positive about him.
Personally, I dont dislike him all that much and he has been asked to fill the void in several positions around the field by both managers. He is a good technical footballer who can do a lot of good. This is compounded by the fact he tends to mess things up a fair bit as well. When we have a fully fit squad, he is probably going to be the first to miss out on a place and rightly so. The standard of player around him has risen and he probably doesnt warrant a place. I dont think he is terrible, I just think he is the worst option we have when everyone is available.

I feel you've missed a big opportunity the fuel this fire, by having a reasonable view
