If Osman hadn't started all but one game, including last week vs a big team, when available I'd believe this more readily.

But in most of his previous starts we didn't really have a proper alternative, it was understandable why he played ebcause we either didn't have the players or they were unfit.

Once everyone was avaliable he was dropped. All be it for one game but i think its still too early to say he's getting games cause Martinez inexplicably thinks he's good enough (or has incriminating photos of the boss) rather than because we don't have a whole huge bunch of options in centre midfield.

If Barkley, McCarthy or Barry are benched for the the next 10 games in place of Osman then somethings up, but as of right now i'm willing to give Martinez the benefit of the doubt that he's playing Osman cause he's looking at the bigger picture.

Let's be fair, Barkley came on and it didn't improve.

Osman, Mirallas, Pienaar and Barkley. All four are out of form for me, and it's costing us big time in the final third. There's just no fluency.

100% correct.

I just don't get it. Osman conned his way to regular 90-minutes in games under Moyes and is conning a starting slot under Martinez. Villa should have been the convincer that Osman is now better from the bench in 20/30 minute spells. But no, he comes on, plays well and seemingly gets granted another season's worth of starting games.

Unbelievable. Get him out of the team ffs.

he needs dropping. people can argue that barkley is out of form aswell but the truth is one is 19 and is potentially world class the second is a 32 year old past his best
