...I think there's lots of nonsense being talked about the little fella. He actually started well last night, but I accept he had a poor overall game. He's not got Barkleys power and pace in that position, so needs to play more of a hub in the middle of a wheel role. He was closed down and caught in possession lots, but the shape and balance of the team didn't help as there wasn't often a player available to pop a pass off to. He's still got a lot to offer.

Ok then what role would you play him in?

He was awful at the beginning of the season, was he tired then?

He was tired when moyes was here how can he be tired he's been rested in a lot of games when he was took off last night he was purple didn't bobby say he should be picked for England dont make me laugh I'm not having go at him it's just not there anymore
I would rarther he not make a show of himself I would rarther give one of the younger lads ago at least they will run the 90 mins

Only good enough for the subs bench now - no pace and not strong enough - looked like he should of being playing for Everton u-12s last night.

He's gone...he's championship standard.

I think that for 20 minutes at the end of a game he is better than that (eg vs Villa and Sunderland). But whilst I concur with general consensus that Leon should not start, that view is completely irrelevant. Roberto rates him and in the absence of so many of our injured players, Leon will start...end of.

Well god help us in the derby if he does We might as well start with ten men end of

...listen, I agree that he will struggle to play when everybody is fit. I wouldn't start him, but he can come into any offensive midfield spot and do a job. We need players like him, he's got quality and can join in with the likes of Pienaar, Baines et al in a passing game. It wasn't his night last night but he's not past his sell-by just yet.

There is huge outrage when he plays poorly, with very little balance to what is said, but funnily enough there is not a peep from people when he comes in and does okay.

He is an ageing squad player and cover for Barkley until such point as we upgrade this area of the park. Martinez would not have picked him last night if Ross was fit. Mirallas in the centre wouldn't work I think. I was suggesting this at the start of the season, but really he is another who needs upgrading, he is pretty damn poor with his back to the play, his touch and his passing. Ossie playing okay links better than Mirallas.

Ok last James McCarthy was running round like a headless chicken trying to sort osmans mess out can this keep on happening the more it does we will never do anything when it matters it just reminds me of neville all over again

..this sort of nonsense....no balance whatsoever to what you're saying.

What I'm saying is he might as well not be on the pitch it wasn't just last nights game it's been like this for a while now and I dont want to just ramble on about one player a lot were not good enough last night but come on he was not getting back to help out and when we were on the attack he was still running on the half way line I Carnt help but think there is a youngster out there who would bust a gut to help out and attack

Osman is finished as a starter but I'd be happy to have him as a sub, he's a useful but limited player that must be played in the right way to be anything other than a passenger at best. When he starts he's knackered by the half hour and it isn't fair on him really, the manager should recognise he's not cut out for that and play him accordingly even if it means playing a less technically adept player from the start. Last night we'd have done better playing Naismith from the start then bringing Osman on to get his foot on the ball and either kill off the game or push for more points, after all he won us the game against Villa and earned us a point at Stoke

He was getting back...just very very very slowly..! He doesn't have the legs anymore, thats true and many teams have younger players do the work of others.

I don't think he was as bad as that in other games, and did start fairly ok. The problem last night was the whole team had an off night, and West Brom got into our attackers as soon as the ball came near them.

I don't think this is the time to be slating a squad player who needs to be used right now.

I wonder does anybody remember the lovely little reverse ball he played into Mirallas? Only really Baines, Pienaar and Osman will play a pass like that in our attack and even that isn't frequent enough.

I personally would assume that it was for something like that, that Bobby left him on, because he sure as hell knows by now he wont get that out of Naismith or Vellios of the bench. It means the manager was willing to live with the lack of pace and disappearing for the game just so we had that bit of control and vision up there. It didn't work, but I could understand his thinking.

I assume McGeady only got as long as he did because thats all he was up to.
