Stevon don't be so naive.

Nobody knows what offers were or were not put to Osman and his agent during his career with us. For all you or I know there could have been offers made from Spain, Italy or any southern Premiership club, but Osman choose to stay in familiar surroundings at his boyhood club. The fact you've been salivating for most of the summer over a rumoured deal involving Yarmolenko without any proof that a contract had been made or agreed upon other than @Roy getting some dodgy emails shows how clandestine these things can be and how brittle a transfer deal is.

You're being spectacularly presumptuous here and naive just because Osman is a one club man.

Mate not even a sniff of interest in him has ever been reported then again both him and hibbert could have been slapping down offers from barca and bayern like, thank god they stayed loyal, what would we have done without their lifeblood they gave to us.

Or could be both thank their lucky stars two managers have found they are both nice pets to have

Osman stats for 13/14

Played 38 (27 starts) 3 assists 3 goals

So Naismith has scored as many goals in a single game this season and Ross Barkley has as many assists after 6 games.

If that's him at his best I'd hate so see him at his worst... oh wait, I have for over a decade.

Like shooting fish in a barrel this has been today.

You'll probably find Pienaar's stats are/were similar.

Doesn't really tell the whole story. Saw loads of people use Pienaar's assist record as a stick to beat him with and laughing off the "assist the assister" argument. Think his absence highlighted how much what he brought to the team was missed.

Similar story with Osman. He won't get loads of goals or assists (although he'll always weigh in with a few here and there), but what he brings is a bit of composure and an ability to play a clever pass in the final third, along with a centre of gravity that makes giving him the ball in tight spaces easier than most.

Stewart Downing will look world class if you judge a player solely by publicly available stats.

He's a useful squad player with attricutes that few others in our squad have. No more, no less. My only real criticism of him (whilst not particularly his fault) is that I think that's all he ever really should have been and his position as a first XI player for us for a decade was a sign of Moyes' faith in him and Kenwright's inability to provide funds to improve the squad to allow him to be part of the squad rather than a fixture in the team.

Take a look at the Pienaar thread, lots of appreciation for a player that was in his time top class at Everton. There's a reason for the contrast with this thread.

Scored tonight, so it seems a bit harsh to criticise.

I've been a big fan of Ossie over the years, and have thought a few times this season a game was crying for him to come off the bench and couldn't work out why Martinez didn't throw him on for 20 or 30 minutes. Tonight showed why. He was so far off the pace of the game that it was almost embarrassing at times.

Well in for the goal Leon, and I think he's been massively underrated by lots of Blues over the years, but, judged purely on what I saw tonight, I wouldn't be surprised to see him hang his boots up on his Everton career next summer.

Merseyside Police wish to make an appeal to anybody who saw the footballer at all during the game tonight other than when he trickled his shot into the goal.
