Bullet points 4 and 5 in the OP. Fan-led "influencer" content.

Go back to the mid-80s? Understandable.
Go back to 1995? Just about.

07-09 = an unsuccessful Moyes period.

Prentice has echoed this 07-09 line/Moyes stability in his Royal Blue Ancelotti podcast.

Also banging on about changing up the transfer strategy from signing young players with potential to back this manager who turned his back on us.

A thread dedicated to our utterly hopeless, woefully predictable PR and Comms department at Everton.

Today (1 June) Carlo Ancelotti left for Real Madrid. The club have clearly been caught on the hop by this, it's panic stations, DEFCON 1, and there will be the usual effort to save face.

There's never anything particular innovative or agile about the media team, so expect them to dust down the old playbook this week. This will include:

  • Friendly journalists throwing digs at Ancelotti. He'll be portrayed as duplicitous, mercenary, and an enemy of the fans.
  • Lots (and lots) of these friendly faces will be on the TV, radio and national press in the next few days. Expect to hear a lot about our home record.
  • Obviously there will be a stadium update in the next fortnight.
  • Lots of names will be tested to see how they "land". I am deeply suspicious of the Graham Potter chat emerging from low-count sources.
  • "Fan" led content - those who have had a kickabout on the Goodison turf in an offseason pre-COVID in a literal and figurative sense - will be getting well stuck into Ancelotti.
Let's use this thread to keep a track on this creaky machine in motion. Already tonight - and no links as it's the ECHO - Dave Prentice, who has been at the teet of the club for many a moon, has published an article titled "Carlo Ancelotti has turned his back on Everton but Toffees cruelly denied chance to stop him" with the sub-heading "Carlo Ancelotti has left Everton for Real Madrid - turning his back on genuine affection from the club's supporters". Clumsy stuff, but who cares? It's right on message.

What you won't hear:

  • Considered journalist asks "When Zidane resigned, didn't Brands et al. give this some thought as a possible outcome?"
  • Friendly journalist ponders "Surely Everton have a list of managers they'd have gone down if Ancelotti had said no 18 months ago? The #2 must be the favourite, as that suggests a strategy"
  • Local journalist questions "how have Coleman, Gylfi, Davies, DCL, Keane, Holgate all outlasted yet another Everton manager? Maybe this spine (lol) of the squad is the problem?"
Big Potter shouts on the Royal Blue Prentice Podcast...

Also had Nuno, Moyes, Howe, Martinez discussed.

Depends on how old you are I suppose.

The ECHO this morning. Lol.

Another reflection on what they think the intelligence level of the average fan might approximately be. The levels of self delusion it reeks of are terrifying - and a likely clue on why this club keeps finding itself in this very same position.
Well indeed, I actuality do believe far to many people think "Everton" took a principled position on this Super league. They spouted what was convenient. If we were there instead of Spurs or Arsenal, many would have been chomping at the bit to get out of the pyramid, same with villa or whatever club who can lay claim to being a big club...

Moyes, a manager who engineered his move from us behind our back without the club knowing.

He should be nowhere near our club, he had his chance, nice one, move on.

What should they be saying? Genuinley interested.

"Let’s get Everton going,

we can we must and we will

even though things have not been made easier by Carlos walking out,

we will work for a deal with our new manager ; but whatever happens we must be in European football come end of next season!

let’s get this thing done – and then let’s get ready to make our case to the league,

against the fratricidal Koppites who were in across park last month,

last month Pep and Tuchel had a number of damaging and retrograde ideas in their match press conferences..."

Something like that will do it.

Totally agree. It will find his wild egomania if we go chasing him again. And one of the very, very parallels with Ragnick is that he won't fit into a DoF system. He'll want full control.

And if people think the cronyism is bad at the club now, wait until Irvine / Round / Neville etc. are all drafted back in.

I just genuinely cant stomach the thought of it, he had a good run here and massively stabilised us, pat on the back well done. Engineering his move behind the clubs back was totally unacceptable, he had a glass ceiling and he is hitting it with West Ham again. Sound, good job.

Not back here, in anyway shape or form, I just don't want to see him managing our club.
