I get that, but I don't believe there's anything in the PSR rules that state the league follows the auditor's opinion. The PSR calculation is obviously a non-GAAP number.

It is, but for the PL to convince an independent commission that they are justified in reversing a GAAP treatment signed off by auditors is a bar so high (for any competent commission) that I just do not see (as a chartered accountant of 35 years standing) how they can possibly believe they would win the argument

Which is why they punted the decision. But if the loan documents state you can't use the the money for the stadium, it's pretty tough to argue you are-even if an auditor signs off on it.

Not from an accounting perspective. The reality trumps the legal. Of course the lenders would have recourse to demand immediate repayment of their loans but realistically they have not had that option because pushing us into Administration would have been catastrophic for them and us (no matter what others claimed publicly). The PL are thinking like lawyers but accountants think like accountants and this is an accounting judgement, not a legal one.

I hope he makes it. If he can get past the physical aspect of the league, I think he will. That is the hurdle for most players. You take a beating in this league. I think there is a solid player in there if he can tough it out.
