Gomez has pulled out of the England squad against Italy. If he goes on to play any part on this weekend's Liverpool game Southgate should have the guts to drop him from his WC plans.

IIRC this lad last year sat himself out of the England U23 set up because he preferred to focus on club career.

If he does play on Saturday that should be it for Russia.
