Yes, definitely looking for something more concrete. While there is poverty, famine and suffering in the world there is absolutely zero benefit to anyone in spending millions of dollars on finding out there might be some micro organisms on a planet 700 trillion miles away.

Well i agree there. But why don't we look at the greater waste of money that a very few billionaires hoard away tax free, that is only used to collect more personal wealth. Let's exclusively attack those blerts rather than the relatively tiny amount spent on scientific endeavour. I read once that around 80% of the UK gdp is from our science research background, which gets done thing like only 5% of the gdp.
