It wasn't Jags who lost Torres, it was Yobo. Jagielka did a great job on him last time, hopefully he does the same on Sunday.

It'll be interesting to see how Lescott gets on against Torres. Obviously that's if Moyes actually uses him at centre back.

I can see what you mean but to me it looked to me like Jags had him all game, man marked the hell out of him, then Torres got literally 2 yards of space and scored 2 goals - he disappeared from the game then when Jags got back on him.

I know he needed Yobo to help him out, but with a player like Torres you need the one defender on him at all times wherever he goes for the full game and not lose him.

True, it's never that easy though. Especially when it comes to world class players.

Liverpool v Everton (2000 GMT)

Everton have done quite superbly without a recognised striker in recent weeks and I cannot remember the last time they conceded a goal.

But form doesn't very often play a part in these types of derby games and it is going to be very, very tight, probably with Liverpool to nick it.

You do worry about the Reds, though - if Fernando Torres doesn't start and Robbie Keane is on the bench, who else apart from Steven Gerrard do they have who is a real match-winner?

Verdict: 1-0

We should just injure Gerrard...Then a win is easy.

I know I might be going slightly against the grain here but .....I sincerely hope we stop these cringeworthy chants about Gerrard i.e about his missus and him being a grass . I know for a fact that he [Poor language removed] hates us so why give him extra reason to want to bury us . Whatever you think of him you cannot deny he is world class and easily their best player by a wide margin . I say keep quiet and hope that Cahill splits his eye open (y)

Sources close to him said that teh chants about him going down etc...are disturbing him - Which affects him on the pitch. Besides he deserves the "going down" ones - as he brought his little gang in - pointed to the DJ and had him beat up.

The point of singing about these players is to put them off. The majority of the time it works.

Believe it or not I actually wrote that before I saw the thread about the Echos piece . I am abit lost for words which isnt like me but [Poor language removed] me whatever next . Part of me thinks that maybe Gerrards lawyers have put this to the police to get in first and have something done about the abusive chants and what would more than likely get sung about him and his up and coming court case . Stunned .

At the end of the day, the little blert took a sample off his child and got it tested against his own. He made his bed, let him and every gangsta in Liverpool sleep in it.

He deserves everything he gets and then some.

Jesus I didnt know that I thought that he had been made to wait in a certain Hotel reception whilst his missus played away in one of the rooms with a certain person . That is heavy mate if thats true .

If you associate with bonafide Gangsters then it will only end up in tears .

i think this will be the lineup....

howard
hibbert jagielka lescott baines
neville
osman cahill arteta pienaar
anichebe

bench: nash , jacobsen (perhaps irving instead), yobo, gosling, rodwell, castillo, baxter.

it may be a bit too soon for yobo and jacobsen to get a game.

the young lads , baxter and rodwell , got a good runout in the youth cup this week.

normally id put cahill upfront and gosling in midfeild , but i cant see moyes playing a youngster like gosling ahead of anichebe in a derby at such a crucial stage of the season.

stats point toward a possible 2-1 win to liverpool , but stats go out the window in a derby imo.

id be happy with 1-1 draw.

I think in a big game situation it is much worse if the only centre forward goes missing rather than a right back. If Gosling plays, it will move Osman into the middle and, with him being experienced, a passionate blue and good at ball retention that seems to make sense. Whether or not Gosling sees a lot of the ball, he will most definitely put in a great shift helping Hibbert defensively, as he often plays RB and as we saw he (as well as Hibbert) is great at tackling. He also seems to have a somewhat Cahill-esque ability of arriving late in the box and getting into dangerous positions which, every way you see it, is advantagous.
However if Anichebe starts, and plays like he did against Macclesfield and in recent sub appearances I can't see him scoring and when starting, he will have less impact on defenders as they won't be tired. It would also mean we have no striking options on the bench, bar Baxter who plays more of an AM role and, either way, has almost no experience.

I honestly think if Gosling starts and Osman moves behind the striker it'll mess our shape up. Osman isn't comfortable behind the striker, he struggles there. He loses the ball alot in that position and gets bullied.

It'd also make us even more weaker at set pieces, Anichebe atleast offers height and reasonable aerial ability. If he doesn't play then I fear Baines will be dropped for Yobo because of our lack of height.

I have no problems with Gosling playing but it'd have to be for Osman instead of Anichebe.

Agreed they play with a holding midfeilder at times either Lucas of Mashceraneo so Ossie would be bossed out of it. We need Tim there for a bit of bite.

I hear Alonso has been passed fit today for the game on Monday.
