My brother is a united fan (probably the only united fan in Bootle) and was getting all misty eyed over what Eric Cantona would do to that Liverpool side last night.

I think they assembled 2 teams better than current Liverpool in Ferguson's time.

You have to also factor in performance abroad, and this is where Arsenal collapse in comparison to this RS side, as well as Man U for that matter.

That team was absolute sex, as evidenced by the fact that a player of the class of Scholes was no longer 1st choice. It helps to recall that they were a pretty thin squad as well... Wes Brown, John O Shea and Nani were all there.

They would do appalling things to the current RS.

You’re on crack mate the nucleus of that team from 06-09 won three titles on the bounce broke the consecutive clean sheets record won the CL and league cup.
Vidic and Rio were imperious constantly producing what VVD has done over a longer period of time. VDS is better than Allison ever was. Carrick was miles better than anything them lot have in the middle.

and Rooney and Ronaldo were a few levels better than there current forwards it really Isn’t a debate

They went invincible. It doesn’t matter how they did it the fact is it hadn’t been done and it hasn’t been repeated since. That is the best team of the PL era.
