Yeh it's not quite got the same vibe as an inner-city uni, more styled like the yanks do college, but it's one of the best in the country for sure.
It is not one of the best in the country, for sure.

Like saying we're one of the best football teams in the country because the meat pies are outstanding (which they're not).

Think you'll find it is bud.

It was over 20 years ago but when I was going to John Moores it was described in one of the national papers (one of the more intelligent ones) as ' like an 18-30 club holiday'.

From where I was standing they were not far from the truth but I was most definitely not one of the better students.

Do you think the premier league should be ranked according to games won and lost, or fan surveys on who likes their club the most?

If it's the former, try this table to see what the best universities look like. There are 8 in the UK in the top 100, one from the NW.

Nothing wrong with Lancaster, I hasten to add. Campus is too small and isolated, though, imho. Even if you love the outdoors there's nothing great on the doorstep and you're still up the M6 to the Lakes.

Just saw my old uni has slipped from top 20 when I was there

Lancaster is in the top 30 out of 100-odd universities. So you can say it’s one of the best no?

Yes, the university league table game (amongst other things) is marvellously sent up by this twitter profile:

It also had a one point of the highest student suicide rates of anywhere in the UK.

My eldest lad`s been to an open day there quite recently and his exact words - " I`m not going there, it`s in the middle of f****** nowhere " , same with Edge Hill lol

It`s quite isolated though and Lancaster is very dull, so it`s not for the more gregarious student.

Oh for sure, would never advocate that if you want the lifestyle.

These days though you come out of any uni in insane debt so may as well get the best education you can.

@Black Belt Jones you can link about a hundred different sites for ranking world uni's and most uni's in the UK move up and down the list. I think if this person wants to stay in the NW there's only Liverpool, Manchester and Lancaster for those that will give you a great education.

One pro for Lancaster: if you want to shag around the globe, go there. Gets a mad number of international students.

My ex went there and for me it’s a proper university in the way that the Liverpool unis aren’t. Absolutely everything is on campus and it’s basically a student village. Really good quality homes as well. Amazing facility.

My ex did medicine there so it’s clearly a very good uni.
Mate of mine did Lancaster Uni and absolutely loved it there.

It should definitely be considered as an option @jinkyali
