Hi all.
Son eager to remain North West, ideally Liverpool to attend university.

Studying Law.

Anyone got any experience or knowledge on any of the universities within Liverpool.

Any comments on accommodation, crime etc.

All help or tips greatly appreciated.
I studied law at JMU.

I did ok , went on to get first class honours .

Mind you my experience at JMU is about 30 years out of date.

Good luck to your son .

So in terms of Liverpool itself.

Where do most of the students reside. Is it city centre halls or student housing on bus routes into town?

I was shocked it was approx 6k a year for accommodation. Shot up.
Following on from my previous post, my son was in halls on Hatton Garden within easy walking distance of the JM campus for his first two years and an easy walk into town the other way!

I went to Uni of Liverpool, initially for undergraduate and later to do a research masters. In terms of resources it’s an excellent uni, in terms of teaching then it’s not as good as its prestige would lead you to believe. As said, it’s heavily research based nowadays - which is why it's as well funded as it is. However, getting a better education is obviously going to depend on the aptitude and work ethic of the individual student. As mentioned, their international network is indeed second to none (I had a great experience of that).

Fun fact: Uni of Liverpool it is not just a red brick but is actually the origin of the term (see the Victoria Building)
