This isn't true, though, is it? Think about Jagielka, Pienaar and Barkley being unfit, Lukaku going off half hour in. Our actual first XI players last night for a considerable period:

---------Howard-----------
--------------------Baines
-----Barry---McCarthy-----
Mirallas--------------------
---------------------------

And Barry decides to have a nightmare, too. Boom, 4-0 Liverpool.

Out of the first XI that we started the match with yes only Coleman and Distin were the missing first team regulars. In regards to the fitness of some players that was a risk RM took knowing full well how match fit each of them were (and all of them still lasted the majority of the match). Lukaku was probably our biggest loss but nobody could have seen that coming. After he went our aerial threat was pretty much non-existent.

What aerial threat?

Probably the reason we went so much for them. I think Martinez was trying to change that mentality with a big 'look, we're in your house just like we did with Arsenal and what are you going to do about it' statement. Difference was he was playing with a full hand at the Emirates and Old Trafford. Perversely, his attempt to wipe out that mental block might inhibit him the next time we tip up there. I hope not. I love his approach to these big games...as bitter as the taste of defeat is right now.
Exactly.

Did Gerrard mention them being like Stoke at all? Three hoofs and a set piece.

In truth, they took their chances very well. They are an average team with an exceptional strike force....that makes an average team a winning team on a fairly regular basis. Still think we'll finish above them.

Really surprised at Evertonians who were saying that was a "weak" Liverpool lineup.

The minute I saw it, I thought it was a fairly strong lineup despite their injury issues. Now I'm not saying it was a lineup that should have put four up on us while shutting us out as we contributed about 80% to our own downfall but to say that the team we were facing wasn't that good just isn't being honest about what we faced.

Is that side, even with all healthy good enough to get that fourth spot? They sure look like they may be but still a long way to go this season and you never know how it'll end.

Spurs getting mullered helps them, I don't really feel comfortable predicting our form, Traore is unknown, if barkley and Delf stay fit its not over though. I guess how much effect juan mata can have at utd could be a big shout in the race for fourth. How boss would it be if the RS finish fourth and Utd fluke the champions league, won't happen like
