Yes you are right, but in reality we were probably "too loose" last night. But to play that way for Martinez is a principle not a tactic, so we have to accept it. It has born out good results.

And yes, Barkley certainly did. I suppose what I meant, was by watching Gerard influence the game last night, should give him motivation to want to achieve even more. Not let it happen again etc.

Yes mate. I think it's a matter of being prepared to take the danger of his approach. No one liked the outcome, it was a gamble that didn't come off. But his instinct to roll the dice a bit on the first choice players for such a big game was spot on. I can actually see him resting some of them now against Villa.

We had a makeshift defence with two injured centre backs that have hardly played together an a young cb at right back. It was always going to be down to who exploited the two makeshift defences the best. We had chances to and on another day we could have scored a few.

Well that was a pretty ****ed up 24 hours !!

Im still absolutely livid and fuming here. I just can't seem to get it out of me...... probably won't for a few days. I bet the gimps from RAWK have been loving browsing on here today. Swings and roundabouts i know but ive never felt more livid after a merseyside derby defeat before. Not even the semi final did i feel like this. Totally and utterly still fuming and i have been in a daze all day at work. Luckily for me i don't have any red bellends around me but if one more person sends me the ' missing evertonians ' pic or a picture of the ****ing scoreboard at 4 nil one more time, i fear i will really lose it.

Wouldn't it be funny if we still beat them to 4th spot after getting mauled last night ?

Could still happen like. Need an injury to Goofy or something suchlike.

Searching for crumbs of comfort here.

Well, November 1982 was even worse and although we didn't know it at the time we were a few seasons away from greatness. This was just one of those days when everything goes tits up. I've had 'em, you've had 'em. The response in our next match is the important thing now; the season isn't over yet.

The difference then though was that they were in their pomp and we were cack.

We were 1 point behind them last night.

It's not like they had a fully fit squad either though. Their back line and midfield were also missing key players. The real difference was their tactics were more suited to the match and the players played with more intensity.

Their midfield was Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson and Sterling! Where's the weakness?

They can only play 4.

They would have played Lucas for one. And given that they got smashed by Aston Villa by the same midfield most of their fans were wanting Allen to start instead of Sterling or Coutinho. Still the main people they were missing were in defence (Johnson, Sakho, Agger, Enrique)- pretty much their first choice backline. Meanwhile out of our first XI we were only really missing Coleman and Distin.

Been waiting about three months for this 'charge' from United, Davek.

It's coming mate. RVP back and scores . The Mancs are hunting Liverpool make no bones about that. Not sure whether they'll do it though.
City thrashes Spurs I see ... City best team in the league by a long chalk

This isn't true, though, is it? Think about Jagielka, Pienaar and Barkley being unfit, Lukaku going off half hour in. Our actual first XI players last night for a considerable period:

---------Howard-----------
--------------------Baines
-----Barry---McCarthy-----
Mirallas--------------------
---------------------------

And Barry decides to have a nightmare, too. Boom, 4-0 Liverpool.
