We have a squad made up from players who are not good enough to play in the Premier League, from players who do not have the commitment to preform at Premier League standard and a squad of players who are so mismatched that no one system can get the best out of them. However they, as a collective, have enough ability to stay in the top division but to do this they have to realise their shortcomings and pull together to find a way to play to their strengths and to minimise their frailties. This is were we fall down, too many of them play for themselves more often than they play for the team. I have no doubt we can avoid relegation if the squad are all minded to do so and are willing to give their all to the team. I do doubt that the players want to sacrifice themselves for the overall good. I read a piece a week or so ago where Holgate was discussing his England future, he hasn't the wherewithal to realise he isn't in the top three centre halves at Goodison never mind England. Players need to realise where they are within the professional ladder and then find a way to make what limited ability to count.
