Greater powers at play here. "I'll take that...youll get that one"
Heaven and hell playing checkers with our squads

Barkley takes Firmino. Checkmate.

Mori's injury just makes me worry even more that Gareth the snail will somehow be shoehorned in somewhere.

He starts, we lose. It is that simple.

Agree totally here his Spurs performance highlights that.

Why do we keep plays on too long and we end up becoming fed up of them Cahill is another example

I wouldn't say Cahill as much but I can recall Weir, Neville, Osman all being examples of players inhibiting the chances of others by being constantly selected.

Gareth Barry should not be starting matches for Everton at 36. Spurs yes he was atrocious but don't forget how we absolutely crumbled against the RS at Goodison when he came on.

Against Hull/WBA you can get away with it because they are poor sides who don't/can't press. Starting him against the likes of Spurs and Liverpool is basically 3 points suicide.

We are obsessed with it, we're ridiculously over-sentimental. The club have no idea how to just let a player go at the right time, one decent game at the age of 33+ automatically means we can squeeze another season out of them and triggers a contract extension.

The injury list now reads Bolasie, Coleman, Schneiderlin, McCarthy, Besic, Funes Mori. Whatever your opinion of these players they are all internationals, one is our record signing, 2 of our 3 most expensive midfielders, and 2 of our first choice back 4. They are also most of the core of our prime age players. As good as they are, Holgate, Lookman and Davies are teenagers, DCL is 20. Koeman's hands are tied by all these injuries. He's being forced to shoehorn in old players (Barry and Jags) and teenagers for one of the most frenetic fixtures we have.

Meanwhile Liverpool will probably field a midfield three of Can Wijnaldum and Coutinho, three full internationals from Germany Holland and Brazil all at peak age. Their one 'gamble' might be throwing in their Belgian international 10 mill striker Origi, that is if their 26 mill England international doesn't climb off his sick bed for one of his two games a season that he's arsed about.

This quite literally could be men v boys once again. This is the answer to the question people were asking 'why are we buying Bolasie, or Schneiderlin, we don't need them'

So if Funes Mori is indeed out, I'm guessing that means a back four of Holgate, Jags, Williams and Baines?

Add Barry to the midfield and it's

Its vital Schneiderlein is fit. It's annoying because that Coward Mccarthy has screwed us, could have gone Holgate, Jags and Williams as a back 3 with Mccarthy as RWB if he cared one jot about playing for us.

Whilst in part true, massively dismissive of Davies mate, so what he's young, he's in the first team in merit and I would rather have him than German international and all round carthorse Can.

They have sturridge, Henderson and lallana missing btw, arguably 2 of there 3 best players this season, and both integral to how they play, and in sturridge a player who always does something in these games.

As for saying we are playing jagielka and Barry because our hands forced due to injury, it really isn't, we will play them if the manager chooses to shoehorn both into formation rather than formation to suit the available players. Jagielka was also recalled to the team because the manager chose to drop a fully fit mori.

The teenager thing though makes me giggle, who cares on the age, we've had plenty of peak age players who've never showed up in these games.

Still think Koeman will surprise us with the team myself mate. Be very surprised if Barry starts and if Schneiderlin is out maybe a midfield three of Davies Gueye and Barkley with with Mirallas and either DCL or Lookman alongside Rom.

I'm not knocking Davies at all, I think he's brilliant, I'm just making the point that our squad is stretched to the limit whilst there's is barely troubled.
