..first and foremost he's a defender who likes to defend. My fear is balls coming into the box from wide but fortunately the Reds don't play a lot of those. He moves out of defence well with a football at his feet. I have my doubts but I know the staff rate him highly and I think we can only truly tell when they are thrown in.

Impressive young man, despite being a pro he did the sciences at A Level and got A grades. His sister is studying medicine. I think that intelligence helps on a football pitch. Good luck to the lad.

Cheers mate, thought myself it may be him playing today to help on pace in the back 3

Honestly not too bothered with the result as I'm happy seeing the line up.

We've been rolled over with more experience, so a baptism of fire for the kids and 4 local lads is a good thing.

Especially when you see not one scouse lad in that RS team.

Hopeless. The midfield is muck.

2-0 Everton.

Presumably wijnaldum will be playing in the Lallana spot, meaning Lucas, Can playing deeper, jesus christ they will be really open for any quick counters as neither of those is fast and both turn like the arc royal

Against that midfield this is one of the best chances we are going to have to beat them at anfield in a long time. Come on boys make my weekend!

Keep it solid for the first hour or so and we can then run over the top of them. They ain't got much on the bench while Coutinho and Firminho have had a lot of travel (and football) in their legs over the last week.

Do you think Koeman can convince Baines and Jagielka to expect a win here rather than just to travel in hope?

..I would hope they can instil that belief themselves. As professionals they will want an Anfield Derby win on their CV but there's no doubt that RK and his staff will have a role to play in sending the whole team out with a belief. It's the type of game you look around the dressing room for leaders and my fear is that the younger players might be the ones setting an example.

carragher says we go into the derby expecting to lose, koeman's response pick loads of people in their merseyside derby. Ballsy move, but fair play to him, i was certain barry would play, i think that's the right formation and right midfield though. Would have prefered the more natural right back kenny to have been at RWB, but that would have been risky.

This is here for the taking. Stalemate to HT and then use the bench.

Unless Coutinho comes up with one of those world class goals I dont see this going wrong.

Holgate played right back for the first five games of the season mate.

Kenny has played 50 minutes of PL football in his career.

exactly, right back, hes playing wing back today by looks of it.
hes a centre back who can do a good job covering right back, not sure he'll offer enough going forward but hope he proves me completely wrong
