Interesting, but I dont see a good reason for them doing so. They would get him over us anyways. I dont think the player ever wanted to come here either, so no matter how much we bid it wouldnt change Barcas chase for him, I wouldnt think.
Would be fun if true, tho, I wouldnd mind a fairly close relationship to one of the best clubs in the world.

But if the player never wanted to join us, would our bids actually raise the price? The deal would never go through, and the frenchies would have to accept a lower bid if they were to sell him, no?

Depends on whether Bordeux accepted the bid, at which point Malcolm would find himself under pressure from his agent to take the deal because he'd get a bigger slice of the pie, so he might have ended up accepting it

I never said they'd be threatened

Barcelona wouldn't need us to not pursue him, but there could have been a gentleman's agreement for us to drop out regards to Malcolm, just because it would give them slightly less hassle, and they could in turn decide not to resist us too strenuously regards to signing Digne (Who for all intents is surplus at Barca anyway)
